Managed Care Contract Specialist

Are you passionate about healthcare strategy, contract management, and building strong business partnerships? MedStar Health is seeking a Managed Care Contract Specialist to support the development, implementation, and management of payer relationships that help ensure patients have access to high-quality, affordable care.

In this highly collaborative role, you will serve as a key liaison between MedStar Health and managed care organizations, supporting contract negotiations, payer relations, provider enrollment initiatives, reimbursement analysis, and strategic projects across the health system. You'll work closely with physicians, finance leaders, operational teams, and insurance partners to optimize contract performance, improve processes, and support MedStar's continued growth.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support the negotiation, implementation, and ongoing management of managed care contracts, provider agreements, and payer relationships across MedStar Health.
  • Analyze healthcare market trends, reimbursement data, utilization patterns, and payer performance to support strategic decision-making and contract development.
  • Serve as a liaison between payers and internal stakeholders, helping resolve contract, reimbursement, enrollment, credentialing, and operational issues.
  • Develop reports, databases, and financial analyses to assess contract performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and support future negotiations.
  • Coordinate provider enrollment and credentialing activities, facilitate contract implementation, educate internal teams on payer policies and procedures, and support strategic initiatives that enhance payer and provider relationships.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
  • 3-4 years of healthcare experience required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in managed care, healthcare reimbursement, payer contracting, provider enrollment, revenue cycle, or a related area required.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, managed care contracting, provider networks, CPT and ICD coding, and healthcare insurance operations.
  • Strong analytical, financial, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Experience developing reports, conducting data analysis, and utilizing spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA, MHS, or other graduate degree with a healthcare concentration.
  • Experience with healthcare contract negotiations, provider credentialing, payer relations, or managed care operations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements and provider contracting arrangements.
  • Experience working within a large, integrated healthcare delivery system.

USD $71,843.00 - USD $135,907.00 /Yr.
