The Role

As a Senior Consultant in the Corporate practice within Risk and Analytics, you will work on and assist project teams focused on developing and delivering reserve studies, pricing/funding analyses and captive consulting activities for our healthcare and corporate clients. You will be responsible for leading the team through data preparation as well as producing and analyzing initial results. You will work closely with a variety of senior colleagues who will help you increase your industry knowledge and sharpen your actuarial skills - all while providing a blend of client facing skills as well. You will play a role in supporting our marketing efforts and the growth of this practice area. As a project manager, you will bring order and process to the client teams with whom you work, and you will serve as a resource to analysts as you help them build their technical and client-facing expertise. As part of our Corporate practice, you will be mentored by more senior colleagues with deep relevant experience.

The Business

The Risk and Analytics Corporate Practice includes over 100 actuarial professionals focused on large market, U.S. clients. Our primary services include reserving and funding for retained losses, captive feasibility, retention optimization, and cost allocation models. We also perform actuarial analyses of loyalty programs for hospitality, airlines and financial institutions, and are actively involved in the development of capital modeling and predictive analytics solutions for our clients.

As a Senior Consultant, you will contribute to varied and interesting projects such as:
  • Self-insurance and captives reviews, including:
    • Pricing/funding analyses
    • Liability valuations
    • Captive feasibility
    • Risk retention optimization
  • Modeling of risk diversification and capital/surplus requirements
  • Analysis of loyalty reward programs for various industries
  • Internal development of practice/industry tools, benchmarks and information

The Responsibilities

    • Scheduling and managing regular status meeting calls
    • Ensuring appropriate and effective communication among team members and the client
    • Delivering projects that meet or exceed client expectations
    • Increasing efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes

Financial
  • Meet billable hour goals
  • Perform work efficiently and look for process efficiencies
  • As project manager, support project profitability through effective project management
  • Contribute to sales and marketing efforts by drafting proposals and responding to RFPs


Qualifications

The Requirements
  • Actuarial exam progress toward ACAS and/or FCAS credentials is highly encouraged
  • Excellent skills across the Microsoft Office suite
  • Programing skills such as VBA, R or Python and proficient knowledge of manipulating databases like SQL would be an advantage
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Proven experience successfully working on multiple projects at the same time while producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
  • Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner
  • Strong client service orientation
  • Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one's work fits into the broader landscape
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way
  • Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $125,000- $225,500 USD per year. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
