Overview

BerryDunn is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant – Parks Planning and Landscape Architecture to join our growing Parks, Recreation, and Libraries team. This position is ideal for a licensed landscape architect or park planner who is passionate about helping communities plan, enhance, and steward exceptional parks, recreation systems, and public spaces.

 

We are seeking a licensed landscape architect with experience in the public sector and a strong understanding of park planning principles, site analysis, and community-focused design. Consulting experience is preferred.

 

The successful candidate will bring experience leading parks, recreation, libraries, natural area and related system planning projects. This includes experience in park and facility master plans, comprehensive system plans, level of service (LOS) analyses, park and facility assessments, capital and operational budgeting, and related planning initiatives. Experience integrating planning, landscape architecture, service needs, budgeting, project management, and data-driven decision-making into practical recommendations for public agencies is essential.

 

This position is planned to work a combination of on-site at the client and from your home or office. When not on-site with the client, you can work remotely from your home or at one of our office locations.

 

Travel Expectations: Travel to client sites can reach up to 50% in a year.

You Will
  • Serve as a project manager while leading and supporting a diverse portfolio of planning projects, including parks and recreation master plans, strategic plans, operational assessments, feasibility studies, community engagement initiatives, and related efforts.
  • Work closely with clients, project teams, and practice leadership to develop innovative, practical, and implementable solutions that improve parks, recreation, libraries, and public spaces.
  • Lead parks, recreation, library, public facilities, and open space master planning efforts.
  • Conduct level of service (LOS) analyses and support park system planning initiatives.
  • Perform existing conditions assessments and evaluate public facilities.
  • Conduct site inventories and analyses to inform planning recommendations.
  • Utilize GIS, mapping, spatial analysis, and park planning technologies.
  • Facilitate public engagement activities and stakeholder discussions.
  • Develop conceptual plans, planning recommendations, client reports, and implementation strategies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality planning solutions.
You Have
  • 5+ years of experience in parks planning
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects and client relationships
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Experience facilitating public meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions
  • A collaborative leadership style and commitment to mentoring team members
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective and efficient time management and prioritization with a solution-based approach

  • Commitment to ongoing learning to best serve evolving client needs and best practices

  • Willingness to travel throughout the United States (typically up to 50% of work time)
Compensation Details

The base salary range targeted for this role is $110,000 - $140,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
