Senior Consultant, Claims Consulting Practice - Liability/Workers' Compensation & Project Management

Location: Any Marsh US Office - Hybrid (3 days/week in office)

Position Summary:

We are hiring a Senior Consultant to join Marsh's Claims Consulting Practice. This hybrid role (three days per week in-office) blends deep claims expertise in liability and/or workers' compensation with strong project management, client-facing consulting, and data-driven program oversight capabilities. This position focuses on managing consulting engagements and workstreams that require both subject matter expertise and disciplined execution - including claim review strategy, client reporting, data management, stakeholder coordination, and delivery of actionable recommendations that improve claim outcomes and program performance.

As a senior individual contributor and project manager, you will work closely with clients, carriers, TPAs, consultants, and Marsh leadership to drive engagement execution, maintain accountability to timelines and financial goals, and ensure clients receive clear, strategic guidance backed by strong analysis. The ideal candidate brings a consultative mindset, operational discipline, and the ability to translate claims data into meaningful business insights and next steps for clients.

What will you do?
  • Evaluate liability and/or workers' compensation claims and claim programs to identify trends, exposure drivers, operational challenges, and opportunities for improved outcomes.
  • Lead project management activities across consulting engagements, including workplan development, milestone tracking, issue management, and coordination of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage client-facing reporting processes, including review of claim data, validation of reporting accuracy, development of executive-ready materials, and communication of key findings and recommendations.
  • Translate claims activity and operational data into concise, compelling reporting that tells a story, highlights risks and opportunities, and supports decision-making.
  • Facilitate kickoff meetings, stewardship discussions, strategy sessions, and follow-up communications with clients, TPAs, carriers, and internal Marsh teams.
  • Monitor project financials, delivery timelines, and engagement progress; proactively identify risks, quantify impacts, and recommend solutions before issues escalate.
  • Oversee data management activities related to claims inventory, closure tracking, action plans, and performance metrics to ensure information is accurate, timely, and usable.
  • Support claim strategy discussions with adjusters, TPAs, carriers, defense counsel, and client stakeholders to advance resolution plans and improve claim outcomes.
  • Coordinate consultant workstreams, align assignments to team strengths, monitor output quality, and help maintain accountability to engagement goals.
  • Develop client-ready deliverables including presentations, summaries, dashboards, action plans, and recommendations that reflect Marsh's standards for quality and professionalism.
  • Contribute to practice growth by identifying opportunities for engagement expansion, process improvement, and broader consulting support.
  • Maintain working knowledge of claims trends, jurisdictional considerations, best practices, and market developments relevant to liability and workers' compensation consulting.

What can you expect?

  • High-impact, visible work supporting complex client claim programs and consulting engagements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Significant exposure to client-facing project leadership, including direct interaction with client stakeholders, TPAs, carriers, and internal Marsh leaders.
  • A role that combines technical claims expertise with consulting, project management, reporting, and strategic problem-solving.
  • Opportunities to influence both individual claim outcomes and broader program performance through data-backed recommendations and disciplined execution.
  • A collaborative team environment with consultants, engagement leaders, and cross-functional partners across Marsh.
  • Professional development through challenging assignments, mentorship, and increasing responsibility in client delivery and project leadership.

What's in it for you?

  • Work for a recognized global brand serving leading commercial clients.
  • Opportunity to shape client claim outcomes and improve program performance through both technical expertise and strong project leadership.
  • Career growth opportunities within Marsh's Claims Consulting Practice and broader firm.
Inclusive culture with Employee Resource Groups, mentoring, and internal mobility.
  • Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package beginning Day 1 (medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance), plus retirement contributions and match after one year.
  • Flexible work arrangements and learning & development support, including tuition reimbursement and employee stock purchase participation.

We will count on you to:

  • Manage project delivery with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and urgency - focusing not just on completing tasks, but on achieving successful client outcomes.
  • Build credibility with clients by communicating clearly, anticipating needs, and serving as a trusted resource on claims, reporting, and engagement progress.
  • Analyze claim and program data accurately and efficiently, ensuring reporting is reliable, actionable, and aligned to client priorities.
  • Lead client reporting and stewardship preparation, including identifying the story behind the data, anticipating questions, and preparing thoughtful, evidence-based responses.
  • Monitor project budgets, timelines, and performance metrics and proactively surface risks, variances, and recommended solutions.
  • Coordinate and support claim review and closure management efforts by helping prioritize work, track progress, and ensure action plans move forward.
  • Drive organization and follow-through across multiple stakeholders, balancing client expectations, internal priorities, and project deadlines.
  • Escalate issues appropriately, with clear recommendations and supporting rationale, so leadership is informed early and client relationships are protected.
  • Produce polished, accurate, client-ready deliverables that reflect Marsh's brand, expertise, and consultative approach.
  • Support a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, helping solve problems, and contributing to continuous improvement in project delivery and consulting practices.

What you need to have?

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in liability and/or workers' compensation claims, claims consulting, TPA/carrier operations, or related risk management functions.

  • Strong understanding of claims lifecycle management, claim resolution strategies, and factors that influence cost, duration, and outcome.
  • Experience working with claims data, reporting tools, Excel-based analysis, and/or RMIS platforms to support decision-making and client communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing presentations, summaries, and recommendations for clients or leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate stakeholders, and maintain attention to detail across timelines, deliverables, and follow-up items.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert complex information into practical, client-oriented recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; willingness to travel as required.

What makes you stand out?

  • Experience in both claims consulting and project management, with a track record of owning delivery and keeping complex workstreams organized and moving forward.
  • Strong client presence and the ability to communicate as a peer advisor with risk managers, claim leaders, TPAs, and carrier partners.
  • Experience preparing and presenting executive-level reporting that explains not just what happened, but why it matters and what should happen next.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, forecast performance, identify risks early, and recommend corrective actions before issues become client concerns.
  • Hands-on experience with claims inventory review, action plan tracking, closure management, and operational performance reporting.
  • Practical knowledge of both liability and workers' compensation claim environments, including collaboration with adjusters, counsel, TPAs, and clients.
  • Track record of succeeding in fast-paced environments that require independent judgment, accountability, and strong follow-through.
  • Prior experience mentoring team members, coordinating consultant work, or informally leading delivery teams.
  • Industry-recognized designations or certifications such as AIC, ARM, CPCU, SIP, WCCA, CWCP, or similar.

  • Leadership is not surprised by budget, delivery, or client issues because you identify risks early and bring forward recommended solutions.
  • Internal teams are clear on priorities, expectations, and next steps, and clients experience Marsh as coordinated, responsive, and high quality.
