Our Alberta Water Team (Red Deer) is growing, and we want you to join our Water Team to work alongside others who share your passion to support communities through exciting and unique water, wastewater, general civil infrastructure and renewal projects, as well as water resources and natural system projects. You will participate with a team of professionals in the management of construction of large-scale Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant projects. Your role as a contributor on our professional consulting services team will be to work independently on large projects of high complexity.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete inspections and reviews of projects during construction, monitoring conformance with plans, specifications, and other codes and regulations.
  • Monitor the progress of construction activities, ensuring cost, schedule and quality standards are met.
  • Begins communicating with and making recommendations to Project Manager, design professionals, client, owner, developer, or contractor, but does not direct the means or methods of construction.
  • Provides the Project Manager with updates on project progress or delays to client, design professionals, and/or contractor.
  • Attend meetings with clients, municipal officials, and contractors to review project needs and coordinate field conditions
  • Reviews change orders and field orders for reasonableness of pricing and constructability.
  • Assists in obtaining necessary permits and licenses for timely opening of site.
  • Completes preliminary review of plans, specifications, requests for information, submittals, construction schedules, shop drawings and pay applications (QA/QC).
  • Prepares preliminary documents and maintains file management of project-related information including correspondence, reports, and pictures.
  • Provide timely and accurate project documentation and reporting.
  • Focus on water and wastewater facility construction, such as wastewater treatment plants, large diameter conveyance, and other facilities typical at water infrastructure program.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, or other consultants.
  • Actively support growth strategy aligned with organizational goals
  • Cultivate and maintain a positive working relationship with client representatives and service providers.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials:
  • Team player with other Project Managers, Engineers, and Support Staff.
  • Work experience in linear infrastructure including watermains, wastewater sewer, land drainage sewer and forcemains, lagoon design, stormwater management, earthwork and grading and flood protection, Canal rehabilitation or urban infrastructure rehabilitation project work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, as is an ability to work independently within the bounds of direction provided by the project manager
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities on projects
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software is an asset
  • Must Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license and have access to a vehicle.
  • Travel will be required. Position will consist primarily of field work. Some work will be in an office setting.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment

Education and Experience:
  • 7-10 years of related construction experience
  • A minimum 5 years of experience successfully managing major projects as a Construction Manager (CM)
  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and construction experience.
  • On-the-job experience as an inspector on a variety of successful construction projects.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
