Step into Your New Role

 

As a Senior Construction Inspector, you will perform general construction inspection tasks to verify compliance standards codes, and ordinances, zoning regulations, as well as contract plans, specifications, and special provisions. Projects will consist of bridges, roadways, and environmental components to these services.

 

This position is available in Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads areas of VA.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Inspects and monitors construction sites and the various work activities on these sites to verify adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Prepares and submits daily reports documenting inspections and other relevant project information.
  • Must adhere to all project contract documentation and testing of materials associated with inspections.
  • Assists in the preparation of contract change orders, contract estimates, progress pay estimates, and other documents or reports required by the project.
  • Verifies lines and grades of project improvements.
  • Coordinate and perform field testing of materials associated with inspection as required.
  • Implement quantity calculations for pay estimates.
  • Performs analytical calculations such as basic earthwork, grading, profiles, and special staking procedures.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing with contractor, owner, and project stakeholders as directed.
  • Ability to act as the on-site Administrator in the absence of the on-site Administrator.
  • May direct and coordinate assigned staff as well as mentor’s technical expertise with others.
  • Actively participate in Kleinfelder’s Safety Programs.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years in the field or in trade-related training in a design, construction inspection, construction materials engineering/testing, or other construction related field.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience with equipment used in construction inspection, and field testing of construction materials.
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently.
  • Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential requirements.
  • Able to work independently, make routine decisions concerning construction work progress.
  • Current/valid State Driver's License REQUIRED with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a fingerprint/background check.
  • Construction field materials testing certifications, i.e. Asphalt, concrete, workzone, pavement marking, environmental, etc.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent to include courses in related work type.
