Job Summary:
The Senior Construction Engineer provides technical leadership and end-to-end engineering oversight for California transportation infrastructure projects. Serving as the Resident Engineer and/or Structures Representative on federally funded projects, the position ensures construction activities meet quality, safety, schedule, and budget objectives while complying with client requirements, California regulations, and Bureau Veritas policies.

• Direct daily field activities and perform engineering reviews, inspections, and approvals.
• Serve as Structures Representative/Resident Engineer and technical authority for assigned contracts.
• Lead field engineers, inspectors, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with Caltrans, contractors, agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Facilitate meetings, document action items, and maintain communications.
• Conduct quality assurance inspections and verify compliance with Caltrans standards, Title 24, and Cal/OSHA requirements.
• Prepare, negotiate, and support change orders and contract administration activities.
• Perform engineering calculations, quantity take-offs, stress analyses, and surveying verification calculations.
• Review engineering revisions, technical submittals, shoring plans, and temporary work. • Support claims management and dispute resolution activities.
• Enforce safety, environmental compliance, and SWPPP requirements.
• Maintain project records and prepare progress, cost, and schedule reports.
• Support business development and perform other assigned duties.

• Caltrans Standard Plans, Specifications, Construction Manual, and Structure Construction procedures.
• Professional engineering principles, construction methods, materials, and quality control practices.
• Contract administration, change-order management, and claims support.
• Structural calculations, quantity take-offs, surveying verification, and engineering analysis.
• Project management and construction oversight. • Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, plan review tools, and document management systems.
• ProTrack, Quickbase, or equivalent project-tracking platforms.
• Technical report writing and presentation skills.

Education, Certifications, and Experience (required)
Education: - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Required Certifications/Licenses: - Professional Engineer (PE) license. - Valid Class C driver's license. Experience: - Minimum 5 years of construction engineering experience. -- Demonstrated success delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.
Preferred: - Knowledge of ASTM standards, California test methods, environmental permitting, SWPPP, and construction claim process.
