Senior Computer Systems Engineer

We are currently looking for a Senior Computer Systems Engineer to join our team in Holland, MI.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to serve as a technical expert in IT infrastructure, owning and optimizing critical database systems that ensure data accuracy, availability, and security. This role leads complex initiatives, including system maintenance, performance tuning, and large scale upgrades, while troubleshooting high impact issues and supporting business critical applications with high availability. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and critical thinker who can translate complex technical concepts, collaborate across teams, and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments. This individual will also mentor junior team members and has the potential to grow into a lead level role within the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain complex IT systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
  • Collaborate with leaders from other departments to ensure seamless integration and support.

  • Lead and manage IT projects, overseeing all aspects from planning to implementation.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Education Equivalency: Associate's Degree plus 2 years related experience OR 4 years related experience if no post-secondary education
  • Work Experience: 5 years IT or computer technology experience with Bachelor's Degree OR 3 years IT or computer technology experience with Master's Degree
  • Minimum 2 years of hands on database administration experience
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to participate in an on call rotation; ability to support off hours when needed
  • Applicants must be able to work in Holland, MI; this position does not offer remote or hybrid work and does not include relocation assistance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills with ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences

  • Experience with Business Intelligence and data warehousing design/support
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • Advanced troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem solving abilities
  • Seasoned DBA with deep knowledge of database administration practices
  • Experience with system maintenance, performance tuning, and large-scale upgrades

  • Comfortable working with Oracle databases
  • Experience in manufacturing or similar corporate environments
