Job Summary

Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join Resource Industries Operations & Products (RIOP) as a Senior Communications Specialist. The Senior Communications Specialist reports to the RIOP Division Communications Manager and supports strategic communications across the enterprise. RIOP is part of Caterpillar's Resource Industries segment and connects global operations across products, manufacturing, and supply value chains to deliver safe, high-quality solutions and drive operational excellence. The Senior Communications Specialist partners with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to shape messaging, drive alignment and establish processes that support business priorities. In this role, you will lead and execute communications initiatives that advance enterprise strategy, strengthen alignment across RIOP, and reinforce focus on quality, safety and operational performance.

What You Will Do:
  • Work across a large, matrixed organization to develop, own and execute integrated communications plans that support RIOP priorities and senior leadership objectives.
  • Lead strategic communications initiatives that strengthen alignment to enterprise strategy, with focus on operational excellence, safety, modern manufacturing execution and technology.
  • Provide end-to-end communications support for executive-level engagements, including leadership forums, employee events and enterprise visibility opportunities, ensuring clear messaging and stakeholder alignment.
  • Support governance and consistency of internal communications by establishing and maintaining clear processes, standards and review mechanisms.
  • Collaborate across teams: partner with business leaders, subject matter experts and communications and media relations colleagues to develop content for internal and external audiences, including announcements, leadership messaging, presentations, speeches, articles and campaign materials.
  • Drive process discipline and continuous improvement to enhance quality and speed of delivery, enabling more effective and scalable communications across RIOP and its global facilities.
  • Uphold brand consistency: Ensure all communications align with Caterpillar brand standards, tone and voice.
  • Measure effectiveness: Monitor communications performance and apply insights to improve engagement and impact.


What You Have:
  • Education/experience: College or university degree in communications, marketing, or a related field and/or considerable job-related experience in corporate communications with proficiency in digital communication tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite and Copilot
  • Planning & organizing: Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects independently and with urgency; skilled at simplifying complex ideas, anticipating stakeholder needs and adjusting messaging to drive clarity and alignment
  • Outcomes focus: Big picture thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and align messaging and deliverables to key customer objectives and strategies
  • Communicating for impact: Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills; develops a clear and complete understanding of needs through careful listening, probing, reflecting, and summarizing
  • Copywriting and editing: Strong content creation skills and the ability to edit for various audience consumption
  • Interpersonal relationships: Outstanding relationship management; skilled at establishing and maintaining trust with customers, clients, peers and vendors.
  • Risk management: The skill to identify, assess and mitigate communication-related risks, such as reputational damage or internal misunderstandings.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
