PURPOSE:

The Senior Communications Consultant leads communication strategy for complex, visible and high-priority corporate projects and divisional initiatives. This role helps frame the situation before moving to solutions, anticipates questions and business implications, and shapes messaging strategies that support enterprise priorities.

The person in this role serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders and executives, offering clear counsel, strategic direction and high-quality content across audiences and channels. They bring organizational context, sound judgment and strong stakeholder relationships to influence direction, navigate ambiguity, reduce communication risk and advance work with purpose. They work proactively, own outcomes and follow through independently.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Leads enterprise-aligned communication strategy for high-priority corporate projects, divisional initiatives and emerging needs across internal and external audiences. Partners with business stakeholders to clarify the objective, frame the communication challenge, define success and recommend a strategic approach before work begins.
  • Anticipates questions, stakeholder needs, communication risks and opportunities, and provides senior-level counsel, strategic oversight and clear direction for planned and unplanned communications.
  • Translates complex strategy, healthcare, policy and product information into communications that leaders, employees, members, providers and other stakeholders can understand and act on.
  • Develops, refines and delivers executive-ready communications and integrated content across internal and external channels, including presentations, talking points, thought leadership, digital content, social media, web, printed materials, campaigns and go-to-market communications. Ensures messaging is audience-specific, strategically positioned, accurate, timely and aligned to enterprise priorities.
  • Directs and coordinates cross-functional resources to advance communication plans, align messaging and manage review processes across critical business divisions
  • Drives clarity on roles, timelines, approvals and deliverables to ensure communications are coordinated and effective. Surfaces risks, tradeoffs and dependencies early to keep work moving and ensure communications are coordinated, timely and effective.
  • Provides guidance, coaching and mentorship to communications consultants and junior team members, helping strengthen strategic thinking, message development, stakeholder management and quality of deliverables.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience: 8 years professional communications experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous health insurance experience.
  • Good understanding of healthcare trends.
  • An understanding of government regulations and experience dealing with government regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Progressive experience in marketing communications with demonstrated leadership.
  • Experience in brand management, marketing communications, strategic planning with proven ability to develop strategies.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Executive level presentation skills.
  • Participates with Senior Leadership on strategy development and issue resolution.


Salary Range: $84,744 - $168,311

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The associate is primarily seated while performing the duties of the position. Occasional walking or standing is required. The hands are regularly used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls and objects. The associate must frequently talk and hear. Weights up to 25 pounds are occasionally lifted.
