SCOPE OF ROLE

The Senior Commodity Manager - Performance Pneumatics is responsible for developing and executing global commodity strategies that support the Pneumatics Platform's annual operating plan objectives for cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and supply continuity. This role provides strategic leadership across the assigned commodity portfolio, including supplier selection, negotiation, performance management, risk mitigation, and supply base optimization. The Senior Commodity Manager partners closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Leadership to deliver year-over-year material productivity, support new product introductions, reduce complexity, improve supplier performance, and strengthen overall supply chain resilience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
  • Develop and execute global commodity strategies that achieve annual operating plan targets for cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and supply continuity.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop suppliers to improve cost competitiveness, innovation, quality, supply chain resilience, and long term business growth.
  • Leverage platform spend to lead supplier negotiations, establish commercial agreements, and secure the best total cost of ownership across assigned global commodities.
  • Apply an 80/20 mindset to simplify the supply base, reduce product and supplier complexity, and improve sourcing effectiveness across the platform.
  • Lead supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives with internal stakeholders to deliver measurable operational and financial results.
  • Manage supplier performance through scorecards, executive business reviews, and corrective action plans focused on quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, and capacity. Escalate critical issues when needed to protect business continuity and platform performance.


Cost Management & Risk Mitigation
  • Analyze market conditions, cost drivers, and supplier economics to identify and deliver sustainable cost reduction and overall value opportunities.
  • Proactively assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including capacity constraints, sole-source exposure, geopolitical factors, logistics challenges, and supplier financial health and regional sourcing risks.
  • Lead value engineering, resourcing, and productivity initiatives across the pneumatics platform to improve margin, reduce complexity and support long-term growth.


Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
  • Partner with engineering and product development teams to align sourcing strategies with product roadmaps, technology changes, and growth priorities.
  • Support new product introductions by ensuring supplier readiness, qualification, capacity, and risk management plans are in place.
  • Work closely with quality, operations, engineering and finance to resolve supplier issues, improve performance, and drive corrective actions that protect business continuity.
  • Lead and develop sourcing specialists to ensure alignment with platform sourcing strategies, priorities, and performance expectations.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 7-10 years of experience in sourcing, commodity management, or supply chain leadership within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience leading complex supplier negotiations, developing commercial agreements, and applying should-cost or cost modeling tools.
  • Experience in commodities such as iron and aluminum castings, metal fabrication, machining, or other industrial components used in pneumatic products is preferred.
  • Experience managing a global supply base, including supplier performance, capacity, and risk mitigation across regions.
  • Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or supplier development experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive results.
  • Strong analytical, financial, Excel, ERP systems, and communication skills are required.

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $112,700.00 - $169,100.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
