Full Job Description
The SeniorCommercial Analyst will be responsible for complex back/middle office activities of the Commercial team, with a focus on performing more complex settlement calculations, revenue reporting, and reviewing contacts for tracking obligations. This role includes the maintenance and management of revenue-centric models that facilitate the distribution of investor reporting and invoicing. This role will also interface with external clients performing market analyses and reporting on monthly results.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Perform shadow settlements; validate final settlements; communicate with counterparties to facilitate alignment, disputing errors as necessary; and execute invoicing. This includes but is not limited to ISO, hedge, and REC settlements.
  2. Collaborate with Accounting on invoicing, payments, and providing revenue reconciliations for monthly reporting.
  3. Serve as a key point of contact for asset management clients and offtakers, translating market events and pricing dynamics into clear explanations of revenue outcomes.
  4. Verify ISO bilateral trade scheduling and support execution of Day-Ahead/Real-Time Scheduling
  5. Draft transaction confirmations (REC sales, etc.)
  6. Analyze, reconcile, and evaluate the accuracy of confirmations, ensuring proper amounts and Commercial terms.
  7. Collaborate with Asset Management and Accounting to deliver investor reporting; investigate, explain, and present budget vs. actual variances as well as the related market analysis.
  8. Create, manage, and maintain revenue models for reporting to internal and external stakeholders, with the expectation that models will be continually monitored for efficiency and continued improvements.
  9. Explain and verify revenue calculation methodologies and financial impacts internally to other departments.
  10. Analyze energy market trends to optimizethe financial performance of solar, wind and other assets.
  11. Read contracts to understand Commercial obligations; record and communicate obligations to Management and Contract Administration.
  12. Support the development of new Commercial tools to promote efficiencies in Excel and Power BI.
  13. Maintain knowledge of ISO rules and proposed changes.
  14. Manage REC trading and tracking system activity (PJM GATS, NCRETS, WREGIS, TX REC etc.).

Education and Experience Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
  2. 5+ years' of experience working in the financial or energy industries; experience directly supporting Back/Middle-Office functions in wholesale or retail electricity preferred.
  3. Experience preparing, reviewing, and auditing complex models in Excel.
  4. Proven competence in MS Excel-based modeling, financial planning and analytics.
  5. Knowledge of ISO market operations and settlements, especially in PJM, MISO and ERCOT preferred.
  6. Knowledge of physical and financial power products; basic derivative knowledge preferred.
  7. Basic understanding of energy markets, solar technology, and wind technology.
  8. Ability to analyze and extract relevant information within contracts.
  9. Ability to extract, manipulate, and summarize large amounts of data.
