Job Summary

The Senior Collections Specialist manages a complex and high-value accounts receivable portfolio, serving as a subject-matter expert within the collections team. This role leads by example, mentors junior staff, and handles escalated or high-risk accounts that require advanced negotiation and analytical skills. The Senior Collections Specialist operates with a high degree of autonomy and contributes to continuous improvement within the department.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Reviews aging reports daily and prioritizes collections efforts based on balance size, aging bucket, and customer risk.
  • Contacts customers with past due balances via outbound calls and email to obtain payment updates and resolve outstanding balances.
  • Documents all collection activity and customer interactions accurately and timely in the ERP system.
  • Requests credit holds or account adjustments as needed; alerts management to non-compliant customers and responds promptly to credit hold queues.
  • Analyzes account disputes and works toward resolution by collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams and the customer.
  • Negotiates payment plans and settlement agreements within established policy guidelines.
  • Manages high-value or complex accounts requiring advanced relationship management and strategic follow-up.
  • Mentors and supports junior collections staff, providing guidance on best practices, system usage, and customer communication.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, adapting to evolving organizational needs and responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; minimum 3 years of B2B collections or related experience.
  • Strong aptitude for numerical analysis and mathematical operations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and skilled in standard office technology and virtual collaboration tools.
