Senior Collections Specialist operates with a high degree of autonomy and contributes to continuous improvement within the department.
Job Duties & Responsibilities - Reviews aging reports daily and prioritizes collections efforts based on balance size, aging bucket, and customer risk.
- Contacts customers with past due balances via outbound calls and email to obtain payment updates and resolve outstanding balances.
- Documents all collection activity and customer interactions accurately and timely in the ERP system.
- Requests credit holds or account adjustments as needed; alerts management to non-compliant customers and responds promptly to credit hold queues.
- Analyzes account disputes and works toward resolution by collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams and the customer.
- Negotiates payment plans and settlement agreements within established policy guidelines.
- Manages high-value or complex accounts requiring advanced relationship management and strategic follow-up.
- Mentors and supports junior collections staff, providing guidance on best practices, system usage, and customer communication.
- Performs additional duties as assigned, adapting to evolving organizational needs and responsibilities.
Qualifications - High school diploma or GED required; minimum 3 years of B2B collections or related experience.
- Strong aptitude for numerical analysis and mathematical operations.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and skilled in standard office technology and virtual collaboration tools.
