Job Title: Senior Coastal Consultant
Location: Ottawa, Victoria or Halifax offices
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Annual Salary: $85,000-105,000

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Coastal Consultant will help shape the future of sustainable marine and coastal development. We're expanding our team and looking for experienced environmental professionals with strong modelling expertise, particularly in water quality and sediment dynamics. This role will work on high-impact projects across Canada and the US and collaborate with international partners in the UK and Australia, applying cutting-edge science to real-world challenges.

In this role you will:
  • Support the delivery of sustainable development projects by applying ecosystem response modelling to inform environmental approvals, cumulative impact assessments, and marine spatial planning across inland, coastal, and offshore environments.
  • Collaborate with modelling team members using proprietary TUFLOW FV hydrodynamic modelling suite to simulate ecosystem responses and support decision-making for environmental impact assessments and coastal resilience planning.
  • Assist in managing multidisciplinary marine projects, including aquaculture expansion, waste discharge planning, dredging and reclamation, sediment transport studies, hydrographic and environmental surveys, habitat mapping, and marine infrastructure development.
  • Contribute to environmental risk assessment and compliance, ensuring projects meet regulatory standards and sustainability objectives.
  • Participate in coastal resilience initiatives, including shoreline monitoring, climate adaptation strategies, and the design of nature-based solutions to support long-term environmental outcomes.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists and stakeholders to integrate scientific data into project planning and decision-making processes.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible team members, who possess the following knowledge, experience, and skills:

Essential:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Technical background in coastal or maritime engineering, with deep knowledge in areas such as modelling, structures, dredging, or resilience planning.
  • Proven expertise in numerical modelling, including data analysis and interpretation for complex environmental systems.
  • Proven leadership experience within a consultancy or project-based environment, including leading technical teams and mentoring staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to win work and build trusted relationships with clients, especially in coastal infrastructure, ports, marine studies, or dredging.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of uniting geographically dispersed teams behind shared goals.
  • A strong understanding of Canadian and international environmental standards, with practical experience applying them across inland, coastal, and offshore projects.

Desirable:
  • Experience working with Federal regulatory bodies, aquaculture, ports and maritime development.
  • Experience working with complex projects.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB or other numerical modelling software.
