Senior Claims Specialist - Casualty Programs
Job Description
AXIS is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist, Casualty Programs to join our North America Programs Claims team and will report to the Claims Manager, Casualty Programs Claims. As a direct report to the Claims Manager, Casualty Programs Claims, the candidate should possess the ability to manage Casualty Programs claims with particular emphasis on New York Labor Law, Construction, and Complex Claims.
The ideal candidate will manage claims by investigating, analyzing and evaluating coverage for complex liability third-party casualty programs claims and be responsible for:
< >Evaluating complex claims (TPA oversight and direct handle) to determine appropriate settlement strategies and ensure adherence to company policies
< >Ensuring timely evaluating, reserving and disposition of assigned claims
< >Mentoring junior claims adjusters, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development
< >Utilizing working knowledge of the legal frameworks and claims handling practices relevant to the jurisdictions in which the claims arise. In particular, utilize a working knowledge of New York Labor Law, Construction and Complex claims.
< >Documenting coverage, investigation, damages, reserve rationale, negotiations, etc associated with claim
< >Reviewing contracts for risk transfer evaluations, coverage analysis and tender review
< >Investigating potentially fraudulent claims and take appropriate action
< >Identifying opportunities for subrogation and contribution to the claim
< >Providing technical advice, training and guidance to TPA/Contractor adjusters including strategic direction
< >Close collaboration with the Specialty Complex Claims team with regard to coverage disputes, including litigation and arbitration matters initiated by AXIS issuing companies and when AXIS issuing companies are parties to such litigation; Collaborating across disciplines and business units, including: the general counsel team overseeing errors and omissions issues arising from claims handling

KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES:
7-10+ years of claims handling experience in Casualty and/or Specialty Lines Claims, as well as:
< >Be able to demonstrate expertise in evaluating and resolving complex claims within various jurisdictions.
< >Have the ability to mentor and develop the professional skills of junior adjusters
< >Have prior experience handling New York Labor Law, Product Liability and Complex litigation claims
< >Have prior experience in drafting coverage correspondence, experience writing coverage letters and responding to/issuing tenders
< >Have prior experience overseeing TPAs
< >Be skilled in negotiating settlements with various stakeholders to achieve equitable solutions
< >Have the ability to recommend and justify the use of outside counsel in complex claims situations
< >Be adept at networking and building relationships within professional and market associations
< >Have a track record of adhering to and enforcing company policies and procedures in claims processing
< >Valid licenses by state as required and add states to certifications as needed
< >Travel is associated with this role (e.g., court proceedings, mediations, and settlement)
For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $125,000 - $145,000. Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including your specific experience and work location.
In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
