In this role, you will investigate, evaluate, and resolve general liability claims arising from Enbridge operations. Working closely with Operations, Legal, Customer Care, contractors, and customers you will balance customer experience, business risk, and regulatory considerations while ensuring consistent and fair claim outcomes.

What You Will Do:
  • Handle all stages of general liability company or contractor claims management, right from intake through to settlement and payment.
  • Review operational records, technical data, photographs, field reports, witness statements, and other evidence to determine cause of loss and appropriate claim outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders like Operations, Legal, Risk, Insurance, contractors, and customer contact teams to handle the claim inquiries
  • Agree on settlements, coordinate release sign offs, and payments. Support monthly budget reconciliation.
  • Draft clear and professional correspondence to claimants, including settlement offers, denials, and/or dispute responses.
  • Monitor claim trends, maintain accurate claims documentation, and find opportunities to reduce business risk and prevent future claim incidents.
  • Contribute to claims function modernization activities using website, systems, and standards.
  • Support the Office of Ombuds with complaints case handling, during peak periods as required.

Who You Are:
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in claims management, insurance, risk management, or a related field.
  • Completion of, or active pursuit of, a recognized insurance or risk management credential such as CIP or CRM.
  • Proven experience investigating and adjudicating claims, including evidence review, liability analysis, and settlement recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to interpret technical records, operational data, and supporting documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, defensible claim decisions and communicate effectively with diverse collaborators.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage challenging customer situations with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize competing demands and handle a high volume of work independently.
  • Proficiency with business systems and applications such as SharePoint, Co-Pilot, SAP, Maximo, Microsoft Office, and claims tracking tools.

Preferred:
  • Experience in the utilities, energy, pipeline, insurance, or risk management sectors.
  • Knowledge of natural gas utility operations, construction activities, and related field practices.
  • Experience managing complex liability matters involving contractors, insurance subrogation, or litigation support.
  • Experience with customer handling or customer service roles.

Working Conditions:
  • Primarily office-based role with regular collaboration across multiple business functions.
  • Responsible for handling a large number of claims while adhering to established service standards and deadlines.
  • Frequent exposure to customer situations that have been advanced, requiring professionalism, neutrality, and strong conflict-resolution skills.
  • Handles sensitive and high-visibility matters that require discretion, sound judgment, and timely decision-making.
  • Works independently with significant accountability for claim outcomes, including authority to approve and resolve claims within established limits.

Salary:
  • Ranges from $72,360 - $97,500 CAD for Ontario locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.
  • Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
