As a Senior Estimator, you will lead estimates primarily focused on self-performed earthworks, underground utilities, and civil infrastructure, with additional opportunities involving concrete and formwork scopes. Projects typically range from $1M to $15M, with larger pursuits reaching $100M+.
You'll work on a mix of industrial private-sector and municipal public-sector opportunities, developing estimates for both self-perform construction and General Contractor/Construction Manager delivery models. This role requires strategic thinking, strong construction knowledge, and the ability to coordinate pricing from subcontractors while building competitive self-perform estimates.
Key Responsibilities- Lead estimating efforts for earthworks, underground utilities, and civil infrastructure projects.
- Develop self-perform estimates using B2W (Bid2Win), Bluebeam, and supplier/subcontractor pricing.
- Prepare and review quantities, production rates, risk assessments, and execution strategies.
- Coordinate subcontractor pricing and scope coverage for GC and CM pursuits.
- Collaborate with operations, project management, and business development teams to develop winning bid strategies.
- Support pursuits from budget pricing through tender submission and contract award.
You as a Senior Estimator, will:- Confidently lead a team through project procurement, the bid process, and pre-construction

- Mentor and train junior estimating staff
- Assemble accurate, detailed, and well-organized budgets and estimates
- Work with various contract types, including Construction Management, Design Build, P3, and Lump Sum.
- Organize subcontractor quotes when the bid is successful, rewriting binders and assisting the buy-out process
- Monitor the success of a project, assisting with value engineering and noting potential challenges
- Build and maintain relationships with sub-trades for future opportunities
- Distribute sub-trade quotes and budgets to personnel, flagging areas of concern and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price
- Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing, and project costs, for future reference
Is this the right role for you?- You have a Civil Engineering degree, diploma, or related construction education, along with 8 to 10 years of estimating experience on heavy civil and infrastructure projects, including bridges, roads, highways, transit, earthworks, and municipal infrastructure, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- You have an advanced knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts
- You have extensive experience creating conceptual budgets
- You have the ability to work effectively and accurately in time-sensitive situations while delegating to a team
