Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to be based in Houston, TX. This hybrid position will support the planning, design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, providing technical leadership throughout multiple phases of project development and execution. The Senior Civil Engineer will lead and perform complex civil engineering assignments, coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and provide technical review of engineering deliverables. The role will work closely with project managers, clients and technical specialists to develop practical solutions that meet project requirements, applicable standards, budgets and schedules.

This position is well suited for an experienced Professional Engineer who can independently manage technical assignments while supporting the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead civil engineering design and technical activities for infrastructure projects from planning through final design and construction support.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, specifications and other project deliverables.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality reviews to confirm engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate civil design activities with multidisciplinary engineering, environmental, planning and construction teams.
  • Develop engineering solutions for complex project conditions and resolve technical issues that arise during design and construction.
  • Support project managers in developing scopes of work, schedules, budgets and technical approaches.
  • Participate in client meetings and coordinate with public agencies, stakeholders and project partners as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers and design staff.
  • Support proposal development, technical presentations and other project pursuit activities as needed.
  • Perform construction-phase engineering support, including review of submittals, requests for information and design modifications.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Texas Professional Engineer license.
  • Experience delivering civil infrastructure projects for public agencies, municipalities or other major infrastructure clients.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing civil engineering plans, specifications, calculations and technical reports.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing technical interfaces between engineering disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable civil engineering design standards, codes and permitting requirements.
  • Experience supporting project scope, schedule and budget management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, project managers, technical staff and external stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical direction to project teams.


Additional Information

  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule associated with the Orange, CA office. The selected candidate must be available to work in the office on a scheduled basis.
  • This position is expected to maintain full project utilization
