Position Description & Qualifications

Serco supports the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) by providing laboratory support services for the purpose of assisting USEPA achieve its mission of protecting human health and the environment. We are seeking a professional chemist who will perform chemical analyses, instrument calibrations, instrument maintenance, data interpretation and validation.

May consider full-time remote work. Candidate in Ada, OK will eventually be required to report on-site 5 days per week once the office is open.

You will be part of a team working daily with USEPA.

As senior organic chemist, you can expect to:
  • Review laboratory analytical data in accordance with EPA National Functional Guidelines.
  • Perform instrumental analysis for organic compounds (GC/MS) and perform technical peer review of analytical data.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting results of data validation or analyses.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree (in chemistry or a related scientific discipline) and eight years of directly related experience; master's degree (in chemistry or a related scientific discipline) and six years of experience; or a Ph.D. (in chemistry or a related scientific discipline) and four years of experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to think critically
  • Knowledge of chemical/physical principles, theories, and established methodologies adequate to manage the full range of duties involved in conducting analytical chemistry projects and/or data validation for analytical chemistry projects
  • Extensive experience using analytical instruments for analyzing organic compounds and direct experience supervising analytical chemists and laboratory operations and/or performing data validation
  • This position is contingent upon Public Trust certification

Additional desired experience and skills:
  • Experience performing S4VEM data validation of CLP data.
