Job Description

Work Classification:

Hybrid: The successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum, or as dictated by the business.

The Team:

The SDV Infrastructure Calibration Organization owns the delivery of foundational infrastructure calibrations across GM. We ensure vehicle platforms, domains, and software systems have the communication, diagnostic, and microcontroller calibration content required for safe, intelligent, and reliable operation.

Our team works at the intersection of calibration, embedded software, diagnostics, communication systems, and platform execution. We support the infrastructure that enables software-defined vehicle capabilities to function consistently across programs, variants, and development environments.

The Role:

We are looking for an Infrastructure Calibration Engineer to own the delivery and execution of infrastructure calibrations with primary focus on communications, diagnostics, and microcontroller calibration types. This role will be responsible for ensuring the right calibration content is developed, validated, applied, and delivered across vehicle and software programs with quality and timing discipline.

You will work across calibration, software, integration, validation, and platform teams to support calibration readiness, resolve issues, and drive reliable execution across multiple builds and milestones.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the delivery and execution of infrastructure calibrations across communications, diagnostics, and microcontroller domains

  • Develop, manage, and apply calibration content to support vehicle programs, cosim variants, bench environments, and SDV platforms

  • Work across software, integration, and calibration teams to ensure infrastructure calibration readiness for builds and program milestones

  • Analyze calibration requirements, dependencies, and applicability across programs and variants

  • Support diagnostic and communication calibration implementation across protocols, interfaces, and platform use cases

  • Validate calibration behavior through bench testing, simulation, cosim, and other appropriate verification methods

  • Troubleshoot calibration-related issues affecting software behavior, communication performance, diagnostic execution, or microcontroller functionality

  • Coordinate with SWILs, DREs, and technical stakeholders to ensure calibration content is aligned with software delivery timing and release readiness

  • Document calibration content, execution workflows, assumptions, and known constraints for reuse and traceability

  • Identify opportunities to improve calibration workflows, execution efficiency, and infrastructure quality through better tools, automation, and process discipline

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Controls, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 5+ years of experience in calibration, embedded software, infrastructure software, diagnostics, communications, or related automotive engineering work

  • Strong understanding of calibration execution and delivery in infrastructure, software, or vehicle development environments

  • Experience with vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet, or related communication frameworks

  • Familiarity with diagnostics concepts and tools, including UDS, GMW, or related diagnostic workflows

  • Working knowledge of microcontroller-based systems and embedded software behavior

  • Ability to analyze technical issues, identify root causes, and support issue resolution across multiple teams

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple calibration activities, priorities, and timelines

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams

  • Ability to work independently and drive execution in a fast-paced environment

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field

  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure calibration, diagnostics, embedded systems, or SDV-related software environments

  • Experience supporting communications, diagnostics, or microcontroller calibration delivery across multiple vehicle programs

  • Familiarity with calibration automation, scripting, or software-driven workflow improvements

  • Experience working with integration teams, software release teams, or build execution organizations

  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages

  • Experience with simulation, cosim, bench validation, or automated calibration verification methods

  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive issues to closure and maintain execution discipline across complex technical work

Who Thrives Here:

  • Engineers who are detail oriented and strong at managing technical execution across many moving pieces

  • People who understand calibration intent and can translate it into reliable delivery and application across programs

  • Individuals who are comfortable working across software, diagnostics, communications, and embedded system boundaries

  • Teammates who take ownership, solve problems quickly, and keep stakeholders aligned on timing, risks, and readiness

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
