Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford Michigan three times per week, at minimum.

The Team:

The Low Voltage Infrastructure Team within the Embedded Platform Systems & Infrastructure organization is focused on the development of systems, software and controls centered around on-vehicle low voltage power generation, energy storage, power management, distribution, and consumption control. There is no better time to join this newly formed team as we evolve to the next generation of low voltage power architectures and consumption control strategies in our next generation Electrical Architecture!

We are seeking a experienced and highly motivated engineer for our Senior Calibration Engineer position within GM's Low Voltage Infrastructure group. The position involves significant in-vehicle, simulation and lab work, along with related analytical and performance verification activities. Calibration engineers engage in cross-functional teams, are expected to handle multiple projects/priorities, and frequently need to balance planned and unplanned work. A typical week includes in-vehicle calibration & testing, lab/bench/analytical activities, and collaboration with algorithm/software and hardware engineers.
Calibration engineers participate in offsite development trips as well as onsite program team vehicle evaluations.

The Role:

This position will support Electric Power System calibrations across all GM vehicles. The best candidate will deliver calibrations that ensure feature/diagnostic functionality and robustness in areas including but not limited to low voltage setpoint control, battery saver modes, and low voltage load management. Your role will utilize system hardware/software troubleshooting skills to resolve issues and complete calibration standard work. You will analyze large sets of data collected during various key-off, parked and driving maneuvers (in simulation, lab, dyno, and vehicle), tune the system response through calibration and identify areas requiring a change in controls.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead calibration development and optimization efforts within Low Voltage Infrastructure, focusing on commonization across programs and adherence to Calibration Standard Work to meet performance and timing targets.
  • Conduct calibration reviews to ensure high quality calibrations
  • Organize, plan, and coordinate calibration activities with Lead Calibrators, Technical Specialist, and Electric Power Scrum Teams
  • Participate in Scrum team discussions and drive improvement to SW algorithms.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve vehicle, system, and controls deficiencies by collaborating with responsible owners to ensure effective and timely closure.
  • Lead root cause analysis and ensure timely resolution of vehicle, plant, durability/dyno, and customer issues, while driving the implementation and institutionalization of long-term corrective actions.
  • Utilize analytical tools to develop, improve, and verify calibrations
  • Develop, use, and improve calibration procedures
  • Participate in development trips and related test activities
  • Support identification of requirements for resources to develop calibrations


Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • BS Engineering Degree or equivalent discipline.
  • 5+ years of post-graduation engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of calibration engineering experience.
  • Independent worker requiring little direction and works well in a team environment.
  • Experience with tools commonly used in calibration: INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA, Matlab/Simulink.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to guide new calibrators and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis.


What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Masters Degree Engineering Degree or equivalent discipline.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience.
  • DFSS Black Belt Certification.
  • Experience working on HIL/SIL Bench.
  • Experience with low voltage electric power controls features.
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
