  • Analyze and select qualified suppliers based on evaluation criteria

  • Update pricing data for imported goods and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Identify and develop alternative suppliers to ensure secure supply
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and sustainability initiatives
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to meet business needs
  • Monitor and analyze market trends impacting procurement

About the Role

This position is responsible for purchasing materials and/or services from suppliers. The Buyer will assess the need for existing and new vendors. Facilitation and management of sound contracts and purchase orders and vendor relationships are critical to enable the operation to produce safe, quality, low cost tons and delivery on customers' expectations. Collaborates with and influences internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for ensuring the operation of the plant is accomplished in an environmentally responsible manner and in compliance with all Safety, Health and Environmental Policy.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the development, issuance and evaluation of Request for Proposals and Request for Quotation packages
  • Analyze, evaluate, qualify, and select suppliers
  • Negotiate terms of contracts with vendors/contractors like price, delivery, progress payments, compliance to specifications, warranty, remedies for non-performance, etc.
  • Update master data for pricing imported goods, lead times, investigate and resolve quantity and price invoice to PO mismatches
  • Identify, develop, and qualify alternative suppliers to ensure security of supply
  • Drive continuous improvement for assigned commodity, service. Drive sustainable procurement improvement.
  • Support sustainability purchasing by considering environmental and social factor when comparing suppliers and products
  • Manage internal and external relations, including the interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that business needs are met
  • Monitor market trends and conditions

About You

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business and five years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience procuring chemicals, energy/utilities, packaging, maintenance & environmental services, capital materials and logistics is preferred
  • SAP S4 Hana Experience (Proficient in the creation and maintenance of SAP Stock Transfer Orders / Reporting on vendors and materials) preferred
  • Coupa Experience (Proficient in Item Setup, Purchase Requisition Creation, Purchase Order updates, vendor setup, contract management and sourcing) preferred
  • Microsoft Office, above average Word, Excel and Power Point skills preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Problem solving and decision-making capability
  • Attention to detail
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • MX or above on most recent evaluation, with no active corrective action documentation in the past year (internal candidates)

Physical Requirements
  • Must be clean-shaven in areas where facial hair would interfere with the proper fit and seal of a respirator. This includes no beards, sideburns, or excessive growth
  • Occasionally work in noisy environments
  • Constant prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer repeating motions that may include the wrist, hands and/or fingers
  • Occasionally walking long distances from one worksite to another
  • Occasionally lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions
