Responsibilities

  • Source, plan, and manage material requirements and purchasing process.
  • Negotiate for the best price and seek opportunities to reduce procurement costs.
  • Issue RFPs/RFQs, analyze quotations, and release purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Create and manage BOMs, monitor lead times and material availability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and discrepancies.
  • Issue work orders to Production and track progress to resolve shortages.
  • Maintain inventory levels across multiple locations.

Job Title:Senior Buyer Planner Department: Production Reports to: Senior Director, Operations Office: Danbury, CT Work Location: Hybrid

Job Summary:

The Senior Buyer Planner is responsible for the day-to-day management, scheduling, and procurement of inventory to meet the organizational requirements. Leveraging strong organizational skills, this role monitors and maintains inventory levels to avoid shortages, and ensures materials meet quality and delivery expectations across production and customer orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for sourcing, planning, and managing material requirements, planning and purchasing process.
  • Actively negotiate for best price and seek out opportunities to reduce cost of goods procured.
  • Issue RFPs/RFQs, analyze quotations, and release purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Create, maintain, and track BOMs; manage component lead times and material availability to meet schedule requirements.
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve issues and discrepancies.
  • Issue work orders to Production to meet scheduled delivery requirements; track progress and resolve shortages.
  • Maintain inventory levels for components and sellable inventory across multiple locations.
  • Manage vendor nonconformances to obtain root cause and corrective actions.
  • Generate weekly and monthly status reports for management review.
  • Coordinate sales orders and logistics to ensure on-time delivery of goods to customers.

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related field required; Master's degree (MS) preferred
    • Supply chain certifications (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP) are a plus.
  • Experience
    • 5+ years of experience in a product/manufacturing environment with buyer/planner responsibilities
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Demonstrated experience as a buyer or planner in a product sales/manufacturing environment.
    • Hands-on experience in material planning and scheduling (MRP/MPS).
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong computer proficiency; advanced Excel skills and familiarity with CRM and ERP/MRP systems.
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
    • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to adapt well to a dynamic environment; AI tools experience is a plus.
  • Additional Competencies/Requirements
    • Candidates must be able to obtain/maintain a US Government security clearance
    • Candidates must be able to work from Owl's Danbury office 3 days per week.


Salary:
The salary for this position ranges between $95,000.00 and $125,000.00 USD. This range represents Owl Cyber Defense Solutions' good-faith estimate of the base salary for this position at the time of posting. Placement within the range will depend on factors such as relevant work experience, geographic location, education, training, certifications, key skills, internal equity, market data, and other job-related considerations. Compensation will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. This position is also eligible to participate in the Company's annual bonus program, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan.
