Senior BuyerMaterial Management Sr. Buyer
Material Management Senior Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement and inventory of materials essential for production operations, which includes sourcing high-quality materials, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedules. This role involves overseeing requisitions and purchase orders, implementing inventory plans, and analyzing inventory levels to maintain operational efficiency, minimizing costs, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The incumbent utilizes ERP/MRP systems to optimize material management, monitor supplier performance, manage costs, and support new product launches. Additionally, they analyze inventory needs, determine buy quantities, and provide change control information to align implementation dates, production schedules, and inventory goals, ensuring compliant material availability. This role collaborates closely with various departments and cross-functional teams such as production, quality assurance, and finance to facilitate efficient material flow and support production schedules. The role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, along with a solid understanding of supply chain principles and inventory management. The Senior Buyer embraces Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) principles and practices and follows the VACC approach to leadership (being a visionary, architect, catalyst, and coach). The role actively evolves the site operating model and fosters successful adoption of DSO Scope (global, regional or local)
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determine production material buy quantities and provide data on vendor performance to support sales, production, and inventory objectives for all plant-controlled products;
- Inventory Planning and Optimization:
- Develop and implement inventory plans based on MRP requirements, production goals, departmental guidelines, and procurement contracts;
- ERP (incl. purchasing parameters) Management:
- Oversee and ensure that local ERP/Purchasing Systems, including SAP-SNC, accurately reflect all production requirements and purchase orders to meet production and sales demands;
- Vendor Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor vendor delivery, price, and quality performance, recommending corrective actions as necessary. Resolve credit/payment issues with vendors and Accounts Payable;
- Cost Reduction Initiatives:
- Develop and recommend strategies for production material cost reductions;
- Execute packaging changes by collaborating with the Process Technology group and material suppliers, reducing impact to operations as well as minimizing write-offs;
- Provide information related to the change control process, including costs and lead times, and complete all necessary documentation for plant inventory components;
- Support for New Products and Initiatives:
- Assist with new product launches and special projects as needed;
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with Strategic Procurement, Master Scheduling, Cost Accounting, Quality Assurance, Package Development, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Project Managers, Vendors, and domestic and international Product Supply Managers;
- Communicate effectively and promptly with all levels of the organization, internally and externally (with suppliers);

Required Qualifications:
- Strong organizational, communication, analytical and time management skills
- Excellent PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
- Demonstrated skills in using and analyzing automated ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree with 5+ years of supply chain management experience; or MBA/MS with 3 years of experience preferred; or AA/AS with 6+ years of experience preferred; or no degree with 10-12 years of experience in supply chain management
- Purchasing/procurement experience in an FDA-regulated industry

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $71,120.00 - $106,680.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
