Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Business Unit Manager to lead our Wildlife Mitigation Business Unit. The successful candidate will lead this multi-functional high performing growth business within our Specialty Infrastructure Division.

This role oversees business performance, financial forecasting, product portfolio management, marketing, operations, customer engagement, and new product development activities. The Senior Manager Business Unit collaborates with functional teams across the organization to execute business strategies, optimize performance, and achieve long-term growth objectives while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you'll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you'll make a difference by:
• Meet business unit objectives including top line sales and operating profit
• Report accurate and timely information to the GM on business financial forecast and operational performance (customer issues, manufacturing utilization, new product development, talent management, employee welfare)
• Partner with a Business Development Team to drive the Solutions business by leveraging market data, a disciplined sales process and deploying consultative selling methodologies.
• Collaborate and influence the larger Hubbell Sales Team to drive growth for the Products portfolio
• Collaborate with Hubbell Enterprise Marketing to ensure business and product strategic objectives are being met
• Collaborate with Hubbell Pricing Team to ensure profitability and alignment to strategic goals
• Maintain awareness of industry trends, potential technology partners and acquisitions that can provide synergies to the business and potentially contributing to merger and acquisition efforts
• Direct and participate in the business planning process that will result in a strategic plan, driving disciplined execution to realize growth
• Deliver customer presentations, program initiatives and strategic business plans orally and in writing for review or approval
• Drive innovation in the business looking for new ways of achieving customer business outcomes at the same time creating cost reduction opportunities, improving services levels, and increasing the value to the customer
• Understand and leverage tools and methodologies like Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma to improve process and capabilities and drive out cost
• Partner with a New Product Development team to develop new and improved quality products that will differentiate the brand in the markets served and contribute to profitability and revenue growth.
• Formulate investment and capital required to grow the business present for approval
• Develop the organizational capabilities to succeed in short and long term by identifying and developing the talent and competencies needed to support the strategy and future growth
• Foster and develop a workplace culture and environment where everyone can be their whole and best selves resulting in a highly engaged team
• Ensures the expectations of all direct reports are defined and understood with regular feedback on performance
• Represent the company as appropriate in its relationships with major customers, suppliers, competitors, governmental agencies, etc.
• Accountability for the overall quality of products manufactured
  • Accountable to the health and safety of employees, customers, and visitors inside the Hubbell facilities


What will help you thrive in this role?
• 8-12 years Manufacturing, Project Management and/or General Business Management combined with 5+ years proven senior leadership experience
• Business Management of a multifunctional organization: Project Management, Product Management, Field Services, Engineering and Development, Manufacturing, Operations and Sales
• Financial Acumen: understanding of financial statements and be able to effectively interpret and address
• Leadership: exhibits confidence in self and others; inspires and motivates others to perform well; effectively influences actions and opinions of others; accepts feedback from others; gives appropriate recognition
• Sales Leadership and Sales Experience: understanding disciplined sales process (funnel, hit rate, probability) and selling methodologies
• Intellectual Processing Capability: ability to lead and manage numerous complex situations and initiatives all at once
• Experience with both direct and distribution (limited/saturated) channel to market models preferred
• Experience with product selling and solution selling and knowing the difference is preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
• Excellent communications skills
• Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Power BI
  • Ability to travel 25%
