Job SummaryAt this time, only current PSEG employees are being considered. The Senior Payment Assistance Advocate is responsible for conducting advanced review, validation, and adjudication of payment assistance applications to ensure program eligibility, regulatory compliance, and accurate benefit determination. This role performs quality control reviews, resolves complex case issues, manages verification processes, and provides final approval of applications prior to payment processing.
Job Responsibilities- Review and validate Payment Assistance applications completed by Junior Adjudicators to ensure accuracy, completeness, proper documentation, household composition, income verification, and utility/vendor information consistency prior to approval.
- Perform advanced system verification by confirming application eligibility, identifying active cases, validating benefit status, and approving qualified applications for continued processing.
- Investigate, correct, and resolve complex case issues including missing utility account information, discrepancies, duplicate household members, benefit conflicts, household merges, and application corrections requiring good judgment and troubleshooting skills.
- Manage incomplete or inaccurate applications by documenting findings, identifying missing information or documentation, providing detailed corrective guidance, and returning cases for rework to ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Administer the Zero Income Verification (ZIV) process by completing verification requests, submitting documentation to regulatory agencies, tracking response timelines, reviewing results, and updating case records accordingly.
- Conduct final quality review of applications by ensuring all eligibility, documentation, system, and verification requirements have been satisfied and approving cases for payment processing.
- Maintain detailed case documentation, update CRM notes, communicate case actions, support process compliance, and provide guidance on complex adjudication scenarios to ensure consistent program administration.
- As an employee of PSE&G, during storm/outage restoration efforts, may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and the regular work schedule. May also be required to work in an alternate location.
Job Specific Qualifications- Bachelor's degree.
- 2+ years of professional experience.
- Knowledge of payment assistance and benefit eligibility programs.
- Experience with CRM and case management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to review and interpret financial, income, residency, and household documentation.
- Knowledge of state regulatory requirements and program compliance standards.
- Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required
Desired - Knowledge of utility assistance programs.
- Experience performing quality assurance reviews.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Spanish speaking desirable.
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to review electronic documents and enter data throughout the workday.
