Overview

The Business Banking Director, Sr - Regional and Community Markets is a senior leader responsible for overall Business Banking sales strategy design, implementation and effectiveness across multiple RM teams in core regional and community markets that include a blend of urban and rural communities and may have a broader geographic range. The Director will lead their teams to deepen existing market penetration and seek market expansion opportunities. The ideal candidate will excel at collaborating across multiple lines of business to exceed sales expectations and successfully direct and drive the Business Banking strategy. This position is an experienced professional who is an excellent communicator with exceptional negotiation and leadership skills.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $136,000/yr - $279,100/yr plus bonus. The base salary indicated for this position reflects the compensation range applicable to all levels of the role across the United States. Actual salary offers within this range may vary based on a number of factors, including the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate27s relevant skills and professional experience, educational qualifications, and geographic location

Key Accountabilities

Segment Strategy & Design

  • Designs Business Banking sales and coverage strategies aligned to enterprise priorities.
  • Sets segment production expectations, and service model standards.
  • Determines success metrics beyond nearterm revenue (health of pipeline, talent depth, risk balance).

Performance & Risk Governance

  • Oversees portfolio health and credit outcomes across the segment.
  • Ensures consistent application of credit, pricing, and client standards.
  • Anticipates market or economic shifts and adjusts strategy accordingly.

Leadership & Succession

  • Builds a strong bench of Directors, Managers, and future enterprise leaders.
  • Owns talent planning, succession readiness, and leadership capability development.
  • Sets expectations for leadership behaviors, accountability, and culture.

Enterprise Partnership

  • Partners with Community, Commercial, Credit, Treasury Management, Treasury, Risk, Wealth, and Product leaders to align priorities.
  • Represents Business Banking in enterprise planning and investment decisions.

Change & Scale

  • Leads major transformations (coverage model changes, tool adoption, growth initiatives).
  • Ensures scalability, consistency, and sustainability of the small business platform.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor27s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Management and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years27 relevant commercial/business banking experience, with a super community or regional bank strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience at a senior level, including prior management of relationship managers and/or teams of relationship managers.
  • Persuasive communication, negotiation, and sales skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of current deposit products, treasury management solutions, loan standards, loan review administration, and banking/OCC procedures.
