Job Purpose
Intercontinental Exchange’s (ICE) Derivatives Market Surveillance Technology (DMST) team plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, transparency, and regulatory compliance of global derivatives markets. The team develops and supports systems that monitor trading activity, detect potential market abuse, and uphold confidence in ICE’s exchanges.
This role provides direct visibility into live exchange operations and the systems that regulate them - an opportunity few roles in financial technology can offer.
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst with a background in financial technology or market infrastructure to work at the intersection of financial regulation, exchange operations, and software development. The role works closely with software engineers, surveillance analysts, product managers, and compliance stakeholders in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will act as a key intermediary between business and technology teams, with a strong focus on requirements ownership - defining what needs to be built, documenting requirements with precision, and staying engaged through delivery. The role requires operating with a high degree of independence and accountability while contributing across requirements, data analysis, product planning, and production operations. The breadth of DMST's scope - spanning live exchange operations, regulatory compliance, and technology delivery - offers a foundation for significant career development within ICE's market infrastructure business.
In addition to strong foundational business analysis skills, the role requires a modern, AI-enabled approach to work - integrating AI-assisted tools into day-to-day workflows to improve speed, consistency, and quality of requirements and documentation.
The position is full-time in our Atlanta office. DMST coordinates across multiple functions in real time and being on-site is essential to how the team works.
Responsibilities
Requirements and Delivery
Partner with stakeholders across surveillance, compliance, operations, and technology to gather, document, and validate business and system requirements.
Produce BRDs, FRDs/FRSs, use cases, and process flows that are specific, testable, and free of implied design decisions.
Translate regulatory and business concepts - such as surveillance frameworks, exchange reporting obligations, and market abuse indicators - into clear specifications for engineering teams.
Serve as a subject matter expert for development and QA teams throughout design, testing, and implementation.
Support Product Management on roadmap planning, prioritization, and initiative definition.
Data and Analysis
Extract and analyze data using SQL, Python, Excel, Splunk, and ServiceNow.
Validate data accuracy and present findings to stakeholders and senior management in a format appropriate to the audience.
AI-Assisted Analysis and Documentation
Apply AI and generative AI tools to requirements drafting, stakeholder discussion summarization, and documentation review as a routine part of the workflow.
Stay current with developments in AI-assisted analysis and documentation and identify practical applications for the team.
Operations and Support
Support incident management, root cause analysis, and resolution of operational issues.
Provide end-user training and documentation to support system adoption.
Manage workload independently across competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, Business, or a related discipline.
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst within a financial institution, exchange, or market infrastructure environment.
Solid understanding of SDLC with direct experience working alongside engineering and QA teams through full delivery cycles.
Demonstrated ability to apply AI or generative AI tools to requirements and documentation work - including drafting structured requirements, summarizing discussions, and reviewing documents for consistency.
Proven ability to write unambiguous, testable requirements without implying design decisions.
Strong SQL skills for data analysis; Python experience is an advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make complex regulatory or technical concepts accessible to a non-specialist audience.
Experience facilitating stakeholder workshops and requirements sessions, including in situations where stakeholder views are not aligned.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Strong attention to detail in data work, with a track record of catching and correcting errors before they surface downstream.
Ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
Strong technical aptitude and interest in understanding how system architecture and design choices affect what can be delivered.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
Experience in market surveillance, regulatory technology, or exchange trading environments.
Familiarity with derivatives surveillance frameworks such as Dodd-Frank, MAR, or REMIT.
Experience with Jira and Confluence.
Experience with AsciiDoc or similar structured documentation frameworks.
Exposure to documentation automation or publishing workflows.
Background supporting production systems and participating in incident management processes.
