Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Business Analyst at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area on the Engineering Business Solutions team in Core engineering. This team creates and supports large internal applications for the business. In this role, you will help turn complex ideas into clear, actionable requirements for large, cross-functional projects, working closely with stakeholders, technical associates, and leadership.

Essential Functions
  • Partner with enterprise stakeholders to determine strategic channels roadmap
  • Actively encourage team collaboration/professionalism with Garmin associates to achieve goals
  • Actively implement continuous improvement on an enterprise level for business processes and Engineering business analysis processes
  • Manage reconciliation and drive consensus regarding business tactical and strategic direction
  • Make substantial contributions to determining feasibility of team or functional goals/objectives
  • Demonstrate broad understanding of Garmin's business model including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales & Marketing
  • Mentor less-experienced Engineering Business Analysts (Engineering Business Analyst 1 & 2)
  • Exemplify Garmin's Mission Statement and Quality Policy and proactively work to improve Garmin's image and culture
  • Manage development/documentation of requirements from multiple global Garmin product managers using use cases, scenarios, complex and conflicting business workflow analyses
  • Identify interdependencies between projects and overall business strategies in alignment of Garmin's benefit
  • Collaborate directly with local and remote development team members and business clients
  • Collaborate with QA team to define test cases and assist with testing efforts
  • Manage acceptance testing by end users to ensure appropriate standards are met and successful deployment validation is completed
  • Work with language services and country business units to ensure correct translations
  • Manage user requirements for large to very large size projects of high complexity for products across multiple strategic channels, with multiple disparate stakeholders
  • Serve as the functional product owner, working with enterprise stakeholders to drive application/technology solutions and related business processes
  • Understand and communicate business impact of issues as they relate to engineering owned solutions
  • Proactively identify and contribute to the resolution of ancillary discrepancies and conflicts between interdepartmental applications and strategic channels on an enterprise level
  • Go-to subject matter expert for application/technology solution and related business processes within the enterprise
  • Provide reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems including evaluation of new technologies to improve existing functions

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Excellent academics (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of business analysis principles and methodologies and apply/adapt them into business requirements
  • Demonstrate facilitation and leadership in the execution of product/concept development plans
  • Proven track record in successfully executing projects of any scale or complexity
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of production and operations issues as they relate to engineering project management, including the ability to successfully identify and mitigate risks
  • Must demonstrate superior analytical skills including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a cross-functional setting with business partners
  • Participates in continuing business analysis education courses
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of competency

Desired Qualifications
  • Agile/Scrum methodology experience and/or training
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Knowledge of human factors in UX design
  • Experience with product management and business development
  • International communications experience
