This position serves as the senior subject matter expert for Army fixed-wing aviation, supporting operational analysis, capability development, requirements generation, and modernization initiatives for Army Aviation programs.
The selected candidate will provide strategic-level analysis and recommendations, lead aviation studies, facilitate Joint Working Groups, develop requirements documentation, and produce executive-level technical products supporting Army and Joint aviation modernization efforts.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior subject matter expert on Army fixed-wing aviation operations, doctrine, and tactical employment.
- Conduct operational and capability analyses supporting Army Aviation modernization and future force initiatives.
- Lead and support aviation studies evaluating operational concepts, emerging technologies, and capability gaps.
- Develop white papers, concept papers, operational concepts, requirements documents, operational views, and technical reports supporting government objectives.
- Provide detailed analysis of the tactical employment of Army fixed-wing aircraft and recommend improvements to operational capability.
- Lead and facilitate Joint Working Groups, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and other collaborative planning efforts.
- Develop recommendations supporting Army Aviation capability development and Joint force integration.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and their impact on Army fixed-wing aviation operations.
- Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams conducting aviation studies and requirements development.
- Support Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) activities, including capability documentation and requirements development.
- Review and edit technical products to ensure graduate-level quality and readiness for government delivery.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level briefings and technical presentations to senior military and government leadership.
- Independently develop high-quality analytical products with minimal government revisions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of Army Aviation flight and combat operations experience.
- Rated Army Aviator with significant Army fixed-wing aviation experience.
- Dual-qualified in Army Aviation and Military Intelligence branches.
- Senior Army Aviator Badge or Master Army Aviator Badge required.
- Completion of senior military staff education equivalent to one or more of the following:
- Command and General Staff College (CGSC)
- Intermediate Level Education (ILE)
- Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course
- Equivalent military or civilian staff development program
- Experience serving as a Standardization Instructor Pilot (SIP) or Instructor Pilot (IP) within Army fixed-wing aviation formations.
- Operational experience in current Army fixed-wing aircraft fielded to Army aviation units.
- Experience serving on tactical operational staffs responsible for planning, training, and mission execution within Army fixed-wing organizations of approximately 59 to 170 personnel.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting combat or capability development initiatives.
- Experience managing tactical operations within organizations of 400 or more personnel.
- Experience serving as a Maintenance Test Pilot or Maintenance Examiner on Army fixed-wing aircraft.
- Experience planning, coordinating, executing, and facilitating Joint Working Groups.
- Experience leading aviation studies involving capability development and technology evaluation.
- Demonstrated expertise analyzing the tactical employment of Army fixed-wing aircraft.
- Experience leading teams responsible for authoring Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) approved Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) documentation.
- Direct participation in the Army Aviation Operations Capability-Based Assessment (CBA).
- Worldwide operational experience supporting Army fixed-wing aviation missions.
- Demonstrated ability to independently produce graduate-level technical products, including:
- White papers
- Concept papers
- Requirements documents
- Operational views
- Technical analyses
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience briefing senior military and government leadership.
Security Requirements
- Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain JWICS access within 90 days of hire.

- Experience supporting Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), Army Futures Command, or Army Aviation capability development organizations.
- Experience supporting Army aviation modernization, force design, and future operational concepts.
- Knowledge of Joint force development, requirements generation, and acquisition processes.
- Experience collaborating with Joint, interagency, and Department of Defense stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary analytical teams supporting Army Aviation strategic initiatives.
