Full Job Description
*This role is flexible to be based in White Plains, NY; Erlanger, KY; or Miami, FL office.

Atlas Air is on a mission to transform how our operations run - and automation is at the center of that work. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you'll design and deliver solutions that eliminate manual bottlenecks, connect enterprise systems, and make our most critical workflows faster and more reliable. This isn't a maintenance role. You'll be solving hard, ambiguous problems where both the business requirements and the technical path forward need to be defined from scratch.

You'll work closely with operational and technical stakeholders across the business, translating complex process challenges into elegant, scalable automation - and helping set the strategic direction for how we build and scale automation capability at the enterprise level.

Values and Behavioral Standards: To ensure the effective communication and application of company values and behavioral standards, as stated in our company "Code of Conduct" policy, and to respond appropriately in the event of any known departure, and to manage the people and processes for which the position is responsible in an effective, open and mature fashion.

Major Accountabilities:
  • Design and implement end-to-end automation solutions across enterprise systems, including ERP and WMS
  • Build robust integrations using APIs, webhooks, event-driven patterns, and messaging queues
  • Write clean, maintainable automation scripts in Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript
  • Work across cloud and serverless environments (AWS or Azure) and enterprise data platforms such as Databricks, Redshift, or BigQuery
  • Develop and manage complex job scheduling, orchestration, and dependency chains
  • Incorporate AI-based automation where it meaningfully improves outcomes
  • Own reliability - design for error handling, monitoring, and operational visibility from the start
  • Contribute to and help shape Atlas's enterprise automation roadmap
  • Mentor junior engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
  • Clearly articulate solution tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience as an Automation Engineer or in a closely related role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven track record delivering automation solutions in complex, enterprise-scale environments
  • Deep proficiency with workflow and orchestration tools, scripting languages, and system integration patterns
  • Comfort working with structured and semi-structured data (JSON, XML, SQL)
  • A process optimization mindset - you find inefficiency frustrating and fixing it energizing
  • Experience influencing technical roadmaps beyond your immediate team
  • Ability to move fast in an iterative environment without sacrificing quality

Competitive compensation will be offered based on a variety of factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal equity and other factors. In addition, a range of benefits to include medical, dental and vision insurance, employee assistance program, as well as generous paid time off, and 401K contributions are offered as a part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range

$115,000-$153,000 USD
