Position Summary

Position Summary:

This position performs a variety of complex tasks related to the design, procurement, preparation, installation, maintenance, operation, and high-level operational support of AV equipment and related computer hardware and software used across the College. As a member of the Audio-Visual Technologies team, the Senior Audio-Visual Support Technician works with the College community and other stakeholders to troubleshoot, analyze, diagnose, and engage technical resources to resolve issues and to provide guidance to other team members. The Senior Audio-Visual Support Technician supports and/or manages AV projects as assigned and may be requested to participate in meetings or discussions on behalf of the Director of Audio-Visual Technologies & IT Project Management. Ability to use varying styles, approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The following are the functions essential to performing this job:

1. Design, plan, and recommend equipment for AV installation projects as assigned.
2. Install, inspect, maintain, and repair College AV systems including, but not limited to projectors, control systems, and sound reinforcement.
3. Work with vendors as needed in order to design and troubleshoot AV-related problems.
4. Be a point of contact with vendors and contractors to coordinate services on construction and renovation projects.
5. Schedule and provide advanced planning and coordination of AV needs for classrooms, special events, or other approved College activities.
6. Oversee the scheduling and performance of preventative maintenance of AV equipment and projects as assigned.
7. Provide backup support for the Director of Audio-Visual Technologies & IT Project Management. 8. Respond to calls for AV assistance from end users.
9. Create and maintain AV technology documentation. Senior Audio-Visual Support Technician
10. Assist with AV system and supply inventories.
11. Stay knowledgeable concerning emerging trends in the area of instructional/administrative technology, and when appropriate, make recommendations for improvement to management.
12. Effectively manage communication between end users, vendors, and departments.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications

1. Associate degree
2. Five (5) years of experience in operation, maintenance, and support of AV technology
3. Extron AV Associate certification
4. Ability to routinely lift up to 25lbs, climb ladders, and use hand tools with or without accommodation

Desired Qualifications

1. Avixa AV Technologist Certificate or CTS certification
2. Experience providing end user technical support
3. Experience with networking concepts relating to AV systems communication
4. Experience installing and troubleshooting AV systems
5. Experience supporting major AV systems
6. Experience supporting sound reinforcement equipment such as speakers, microphones, and amplifiers
7. Experience working with Microsoft Windows environments
8. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and coworkers with a wide range of technological skill levels
