Job Description

Senior Associate, Warehouse Capacity Planning

What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role, you will support outbound warehouse operations responsible for the distribution and shipment of finished goods while ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and service excellence. Reporting to the Outbound Warehouse Manager, you will play a key role in daily warehouse execution, system transactions, inventory management, and cross-functional coordination supporting the Amgen Ohio (AOH) site.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain short- and long-range capacity projections for internal and external warehouse locations, including scenario modeling, storage-utilization analysis, constraint identification, and recommendations to support site and commercial operations.

  • Partner with Procurement, Warehouse Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and external warehouse providers to align incoming-material schedules, storage requirements, outbound activity, and material movement plans.

  • Coordinate external warehouse execution, including inbound and outbound trailer scheduling, material movements, inventory visibility, transaction follow-up, and performance monitoring. Escalate capacity, service, inventory, or execution risks in a timely manner.

  • Monitor inventory health and availability across internal and external warehouse locations, including aging, inventory accuracy, storage utilization, and other indicators that may affect manufacturing or commercial supply.

  • Coordinate and execute inventory-control activities, including cycle counts, count-result review, discrepancy reconciliation, root-cause analysis, inventory adjustments, and timely resolution of inventory issues in accordance with approved procedures.

  • Analyze cycle-count performance using inventory accuracy, material criticality, transaction history, discrepancy trends, and operational risk. Recommend risk-based improvements to count frequency, scope, and process efficiency while maintaining GMP/GDP compliance and inventory accuracy.

  • Coordinate and process warehouse sample requests, including confirming material availability, arranging material staging or movement, completing required system transactions, and maintaining supporting documentation in accordance with site procedures.

  • Coordinate and execute approved material reclassifications and inventory-status changes, including required SAP S/4HANA or warehouse-system transactions, documentation, and cross-functional alignment with Warehouse Operations and Quality.

  • Support non-standard warehouse activities, including back-to-stock returns, inventory updates associated with destruction or disposition activities, stock transfers, inventory reconciliations, and other approved inventory transactions.

  • Develop and maintain automated reports, dashboards, and visualization tools that provide clear insights into warehouse capacity, inventory accuracy, operational performance, material flow, and risk.

  • Support digital transformation and system-improvement initiatives that simplify workflows, reduce manual effort, improve data visibility, strengthen transaction accuracy, and enhance warehouse execution. Participate in testing, workflow validation, readiness tracking, and user-adoption activities as needed.

  • Lead or support investigations related to warehouse and inventory discrepancies, deviations, and non-standard activities. Analyze trends, support root-cause identification and CAPA or action-plan execution, and recommend sustainable process improvements.

  • Maintain accurate, inspection-ready documentation and support SOP or work-instruction updates, training readiness, audit preparation, and continuous-improvement activities associated with warehouse capacity and inventory processes.

  • Collaborate effectively across multiple organizational levels and functions to communicate risks, establish priorities, drive follow-up, and support timely execution.

  • Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with applicable cGMP, GDP, EH&S, quality-system, and site requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse, supply chain, and site operational objectives.
