Job Description:

The Software Engineer will support the design, development, integration, test, and maintenance of new and existing Space Vehicle (SV) flight software. This role offers opportunities for growth into technical leadership responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Complete assigned tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Use existing DevOps tools, repositories, development processes, and collaboration workflows in daily activities.
  • Apply software engineering principles to plan, estimate, and decompose assigned work.
  • Develop software using C++ and object-oriented design principles in an embedded Linux environment.
  • Ensure implemented software integrates properly with the larger system baseline, including interfaces and network communications.
  • Communicate status, accomplishments, and impediments clearly in daily stand-up meetings.
  • Develop test plans and test procedures for peer review.
  • Execute test procedures in coordination with Software Quality or other approved test oversight processes.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, and a minimum of 2 years of relevant software development experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of software development experience using C/C++.
  • Experience with object-oriented design and implementation.
  • Experience with or familiarity with embedded Linux development.
  • Experience with modern software development tools, including compilers, debuggers, and version control systems such as Git.
  • Familiarity with network communications and software interface development.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python for test, automation, and tooling.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience using Linux shell commands and debugging tools.
