Senior Associate, Project Manager
In our Always Audit Ready & Risk Management team, we provide horizontal risk, process and project support for our Consumer and Financial Risk Management organizations. We strive to develop horizontal strategies to optimize how we work in a well managed, risk focused, and always audit ready way for both our clients and our customers.
We’re looking for a strategic, technically savvy Project Manager who thrives in fast-paced environments and excels at driving complex initiatives with cross-functional teams. General Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects across cross-functional teams
Drive technical projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables and timelines are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed
Effectively manage and drive end-to-end delivery of major lifecycle milestones (such as technical release documentation and compliance artifacts)
Build, maintain, and manage comprehensive project roadmaps, ensuring timelines reflect resource constraints, technical dependencies, and critical release milestones
Build and apply structured engagement models – partnering closely with stakeholders to translate complex goals into clear, actionable workstreams that drive results
Navigate ambiguous or undefined (“whitespace”) areas with a proactive and strategic approach, identifying opportunities and driving clarity and direction
Collaborate with various stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables
Effectively manage relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout project lifecycle
Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes
Apply technical understanding to engage meaningfully with development teams, ensuring alignment between business goals and technical requirements
Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
Develop and maintain project and agile artifacts to ensure that the project is well managed and controlled
Own the end-to-end facilitation of agile ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, grooming, and retrospectives), ensuring high operational discipline through proactive preparation and agenda management
Apply project analytics agenda to drive change, including measuring KPIs and OKRs
The ideal candidate should:
Enjoy working in a role that is fast-paced, technical, and strategic in nature
Have experience managing technical Agile projects, with the curiosity to understand complex deliverables and confidently articulate context to leadership
Have a proven ability to create and apply structure frameworks to drive cross-functional engagement and results
Comfortable operating in ambiguity; able to identify problems and opportunities in unstructured environments and create paths forwards
Operate as a self-starter and continuously develop project, process and technology skills
Have a proven track record of project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work
Be highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Have strong problem solving and influencing skills
Have great analytical skills that allow you to connect the dots across applications and teams
Be digitally curious, with a drive to learn more about the business context and Tech platforms used across our Loss forecasting platforms
Have excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail, with a habit of meeting and exceeding rigorous deadlines
Have great communication (written & verbal) and collaboration skills
Enjoy collaborating with various value streams and senior stakeholder
Have excellent customer service/relationship management skills
Not be afraid to bring new ideas to the table and challenge the status quo
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Office or G-Suite
At least 2 years of Project Management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of Project Management experience
Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
Experience working in a robust technical environment

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Project Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
