We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven KYC Quality Control Analyst to join our Compliance team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and auditing KYC onboardings and periodic reviews of Know Your Customer (KYC) processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory and procedural compliance across our customer onboarding and ongoing monitoring workflows. You will play a critical part in safeguarding our platform against financial crime while delivering feedback that will be leveraged to drive continuous improvement across a team of analysts.
Key ResponsibilitiesDaily Case Review & Auditing
- Review a defined queue of completed KYC files - spanning new customer onboarding, periodic reviews, and trigger-based refreshes against internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assess each case for completeness, accuracy, and logical consistency, verifying that all required documents (e.g., government-issued ID, proof of address, corporate formation documents, ownership charts) have been collected and all requirements fulfilled.
- Evaluate whether the analyst's narrative adequately explains the customer's business profile, source of funds, source of wealth, and anticipated activity.
- Confirm that Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) has been correctly identified and documented.
- Validate that risk ratings (low, medium, high) assigned to customers are well-supported by the underlying due diligence findings and align with the firm's risk appetite framework.
Screening & Red Flag Review
- Re-examine sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening results to confirm that all hits were appropriately dispositioned - either cleared with documented rationale or escalated per policy.
- Identify cases where screening hits were prematurely cleared without sufficient investigation and return them to the analyst.
- Review negative news and adverse media findings to assess whether they are material to the customer's risk profile and whether the analyst's response was sufficient and proportionate in their disposition.
Feedback, Discussion & Error Tracking
- Log all QC findings with clear, specific, and actionable commentary, distinguishing between critical errors (regulatory or policy breaches) and minor deficiencies (documentation gaps or formatting issues).
- Communicate findings directly to KYC analysts and team leads through written feedback with a corresponding grade.
- Participate in regular feedback sessions or calibration meetings with the KYC Operations team to discuss recurring error patterns and ensure consistent application of QC standards across reviewers.
- Support the team lead through maintaining metrics by analyst, case type, customer segment, or product line, and present weekly summaries to the team lead.
Metrics, Reporting & Trend Analysis
- Compile daily and weekly QC scorecards capturing pass/fail rates, defect categories, average review times, and case volumes, and submit to management on a regular cadence.
- Assist in preparing monthly QC performance reports for senior compliance leadership, including trend commentary, analyst performance summaries, and open remediation items.
Policy, Procedure & Training Support
- Participate in the review and update of KYC procedures, QC checklists, and job aids to reflect regulatory changes, audit findings, or lessons learned from QC reviews.
- Assist in developing training content for new and existing KYC analysts based on observed error trends, including case studies drawn from anonymized QC findings.
Escalation & Risk Management
- Escalate cases involving unresolved high-risk red flags, incomplete EDD, or potentially suspicious activity to the team lead and Head of KYC.
- Flag systemic or individual analyst issues that may indicate a training need, capacity problem, or potential control failure to the team lead for prompt action.
Skills & Experience
- 3+ years in a KYC analyst role within fintech, banking, or financial services, with direct experience in quality control and reviews
- Strong understanding of CDD and EDD requirements across individuals, sole traders, SMEs, and corporate entities
- Experience assessing KYC documentation across a variety of entity structures and jurisdictions, including UBO identification
- Experience conducting or supporting large-scale KYC remediation or refresh campaigns
- Proficiency with KYC case management systems and screening tools (e.g., World-Check, Dow Jones, LexisNexis, ComplyAdvantage)
- Solid knowledge of applicable AML/KYC regulations (BSA/FinCEN, EU AML Directives, FCA guidance)
