About the Job

We're excited that you're considering joining us at Law Mom ® as a Senior Associate Trusts and Estates Attorney based in Newburyport, Massachusetts. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced attorney to step into a high-level role, providing expert estate planning services to our valued clients. This is an in-office position where you'll be working alongside a collaborative team and will have the chance to lead, mentor, and make an immediate impact.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide legal counsel to high-net-worth individuals and families on trusts, wills, probate, and related matters.
  • Lead and manage complex estate planning, probate, and administration cases.
  • Draft and review estate planning documents with precision and care using Wealth Counsel software.
  • Jump in on sophisticated trust and estate issues and collaborate with our legal team to provide the best outcomes for our clients.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Engage with clients directly to understand their needs, build lasting relationships, and maintain a high level of trust and confidentiality.
  • Execute and handle client-facing design meetings.
  • Answer client questions with ease and knowledge.
  • Answer legal team questions with ease and knowledge.
  • Manage and oversee paralegals.
  • Ensure legal staff is supported in meeting KPI requirements.
  • Host webinars and workshops within the community (min. 2 nights a month required).


You're Probably a Match If You Have:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the Massachusetts Bar and NH Bar is a plus!
  • A minimum of 5+ years of sophisticated experience in trusts and estates law.
  • Elder Law experience preferred.
  • Expertise in estate planning, trusts, probate law, and taxation related to estate matters.
  • Proficiency with Wealth Counsel is a must.
  • A tech-savvy mindset and the ability to learn and use legal technology effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and approachable manner.
  • A desire to mentor, lead, and work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent bedside manner.
  • Excellent knowledge of income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping tax matters.
  • Plus, if you know tax return preparation.
  • LLM in taxation is preferred.
