Responsibilities

Senior Architect - Federal Civilian Sector - Office of the Chief Technology Officer

Peraton is seeking an experienced Senior Architect to join our team The ideal candidate serves as a key technical contributor on major federal civilian pursuits, leading solution design on large-scale opportunities ($25M-$100M TCV) and supporting Principal Architects on larger pursuits. You design enterprise-grade architectures, lead technical workstreams within solutioning sessions, author proposal content, and present technical solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as lead architect on mid-size federal civilian pursuits ($25M-$100M TCV) and as a key contributor on larger pursuits ($100M+) under the direction of a Principal Architect.
  • Design enterprise architectures across cloud, application modernization, cybersecurity, data/AI, IT operations, and managed services tailored to customer missions.
  • Lead specific technical workstreams within solutioning sessions; coordinate with capture teams, partners, and SMEs to develop integrated solution components.
  • Author and review technical proposal volumes - ensuring content is compelling, compliant, and aligned to evaluation criteria.
  • Develop architecture artifacts including system diagrams, integration approaches, transition plans, and technical narratives.
  • Conduct competitive technical analysis and contribute discriminators that strengthen solution positioning.
  • Engage with federal customers to understand mission requirements, technology environments, and strategic direction.
  • Evaluate Peraton Labs capabilities, partner technologies, and emerging tools for inclusion in solutions.

Location: Reston, Virginia. Telework flexibility with travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field and minimum 12 years' experience
  • Must have a minimum 8+ years in enterprise IT solution architecture or technical leadership preferred.
  • 3+ years as a solution architect on enterprise-level pursuits ($25M+ TCV) with significant solution design responsibility.
  • Demonstrated architecture experience across at least three domains: cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI), application modernization, cybersecurity/zero trust, data/AI-ML, IT operations, DevSecOps, enterprise platforms, etc.
  • Track record of contributing to winning competitive proposals - translating customer requirements into deliverable solutions.
  • Experience presenting architectures to internal leadership, gate review panels, and federal customers.
  • Working understanding of federal acquisition processes, evaluation methodologies, and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, CMMC).
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills for both technical and executive audiences.
  • US Citizenship required; Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in CS, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Experience with federal civilian agencies.
  • Professional certifications: AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional, Azure Solutions Architect, CISSP, TOGAF, or SAFe Architect, etc.
  • Experience with generative AI, agentic AI, post-quantum cryptography, AIOps, and other emerging technologies.
  • Background in ITIL, Agile/SAFe delivery, DevSecOps CI/CD, and price-to-win analysis.


Target Salary Range

$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
