Sanofi is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our analytical group as a Senior Scientist for Solid State Characterization. The group is part of the synthetic platform within Global CMC Development that is striving to become an industry leader in the development of transformative medicines.
The primary responsibility of this solid-state characterization expert position is to lead/implement polymorphism/salt studies and act as the solid-state representative on development projects.
Main Responsibilities:
Lead and perform polymorphism studies for synthetics molecules, including polymorph screening, in depth physical characterization and thermodynamic assessment
Design and conduct salt selection studies (salt screening, in depth physical characterization and stability assessment, …)
Act as the solid-state representative on development projects to deploy solid-form selection strategy in collaboration with other functions (e.g., Crystallization, Biopharm and Chemistry)
Develop and implement analytical methods using equipment including XRPD, DSC, TGA, SEM, Raman, IR, and laser granulometry
Provide physical characterization support (e.g, XRPD, PDS, etc) to internal partner teams
Use computational tools to perform Crystal Structure Prediction studies
Generate technical reports independently
Develop effective collaborations with others within project teams and between analytical groups
Introduce innovative analytical approaches to facilitate optimal decision-making, including automation and AI/modeling integration
Promote scientific excellence through internal and external presentations and publications
About you
Education:
PhD in chemistry, pharmaceutical science, material science, or related fields with minimum 3 years of postdoctoral experience in a pharma or biopharma environment
Experience & Technical Skills:
In-depth experience with solid-state characterization instruments: XRPD, DSC, TGA
Expertise in polymorphism/salt selection and understanding of powder and particle properties
In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical solid-state properties
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with SEM, Raman, IR, or laser granulometry
Demonstrated expertise in crystallography and computational prediction
Experience in crystal structure resolution by sc-XRD
Experience in crystallization of synthetic molecules (e.g., crystallization process, single-crystal growth, etc.)
Having an established scientific network in the industry and academia
Soft Skills:
Good oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively in individual and group settings
Ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Record of adhering to and promoting lab safety practices
Open-minded, agile, and capable of innovating in a complex environment
The salary range for this position is:
$100.500,00 - $145.166,66
