This role independently organizes and analyzes tax data, prepares complex workpapers and supporting schedules, maintains compliance calendars, manages information requests with internal stakeholders and external tax advisors, and supports the timely preparation, review, and filing of tax returns, K-1s, tax notices, audits, and provision-related workpapers. The Senior Analyst is expected to exercise sound judgment, anticipate deadlines and data needs, identify and resolve routine to moderately complex issues, and escalate technical or risk-related matters with well-organized analysis and recommendations. This role partners with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Development, and external advisors to ensure tax records are accurate, deadlines are met, documentation is complete, and tax compliance processes are consistently maintained across current and planned business activities, including acquisitions. This role is remote but may require travel to semi-annual Tax Department meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Independently supports federal, state, and local income tax compliance for partnership and corporate entities by gathering and validating tax data, preparing workpapers and schedules, coordinating complex information requests, and reviewing returns prepared by external advisors for completeness and consistency.
  • Owns and maintains tax compliance calendars, due date trackers, return status reports, document repositories, and compliance files to ensure filing, payment, extension, and K-1 distribution requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Prepares, analyzes, and reconciles complex tax workpapers, general ledger detail, account balances, and supporting documentation for income tax returns, provisions, audits, notices, and other compliance deliverables with limited oversight.
  • Leads K-1 preparation and distribution support, including partner information tracking, data validation, documentation review, issue resolution, and coordination with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
  • Supports the annual audit and tax provision process by independently preparing provision-related schedules, reconciling tax accounts, compiling documentation, and responding to information requests with accurate, well-supported analysis.
  • Supports acquisition-related tax compliance activities with a high degree of independence, including entity onboarding, historical tax data gathering, purchase price allocation support, tax basis documentation, and integration of acquired entities into compliance processes.
  • Researches tax compliance questions, supports responses to tax notices and information requests, identifies and resolves data discrepancies, and escalates technical or risk-related matters with clear analysis, supporting documentation, and recommended next steps.
  • Applies knowledge of the Company's business models, entity structure, and operating activities to recommend and implement process improvements, documentation standards, and recurring reporting templates within the tax compliance function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field required.
  • Master's degree in Taxation or related field a plus.
  • 4+ years of tax compliance, public accounting, corporate tax, or related accounting experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage recurring tax compliance deliverables independently, exercise sound judgment, resolve routine to moderately complex issues, and escalate matters appropriately with recommended next steps.
  • CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
  • Experience supporting partnership, corporate, federal, state, and multi-state income tax compliance preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare workpapers, reconcile data, identify discrepancies, and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office required; experience with NetSuite or tax compliance software preferred.
  • Ability to manage recurring deadlines, organize multiple deliverables, and maintain complete tax records in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate with Accounting, Finance, Operations, external advisors, and Tax leadership.
