The TeamS&P Global Ratings' Structured Finance and Alternative Investment Funds team evaluates the credit risk of securitized products and fund structures, analyzing underlying asset performance, structural protections, cash-flow mechanics, and stress scenarios. The team delivers credit opinions that help issuers and investors compare complex instruments, providing market-relevant perspectives on performance trends and issuance conditions across a growing and evolving sector.
The Impact and Responsibilities:Team Contribution & Capability Building
- Guide and coach junior analysts and research staff, building capability in credit analysis, data discipline, and analytical tooling to reinforce consistent, high-quality outputs.
- Strengthen team productivity by creating reusable analytical assets and contributing to lightweight automation initiatives that free capacity for human analysis and judgment.
- Identify and propose workflow improvements that remove unnecessary manual steps without compromising governance or analytical standards.
- Partner with senior team members and Data and Engineering colleagues to identify and scale AI and automation use cases with governance-by-design, appropriate controls, and adoption support.
Core Analytical & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end credit analysis and surveillance for assigned structured finance credits, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery with clear accountability for outputs and priorities.
- Synthesize portfolio performance, market signals, and peer context into decision-ready insights that support rating committee discussions and risk assessments.
- Embed and validate generative AI and large language model tools within analytical workflows, maintaining human accountability for all conclusions and material risk judgments.
- Prepare and review analytical inputs, reconcile metrics, and document assumptions to ensure adherence to methodologies and standard operating procedures.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
- Engage with external stakeholders alongside senior team members, translating complex data and analysis into clear, evidence-based narratives for clients and rating committees.
- Prepare well-structured, committee-ready materials and communicate complex analytical content in an accessible format for market participants.
Risk Management and Operating
- Apply methodology, confidentiality, and data governance requirements consistently, escalating issues early with clear recommendations to protect analytical integrity.
- Contribute to the responsible design and testing of automation and AI-enabled workflows, maintaining clear boundaries between what can be automated and what requires human judgment.
Compensation and Benefits Information (US Candidates): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $92,000 to $121,000 USD. Final base salary will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. - Proficiency in analytical and spreadsheet tools, with a willingness to develop skills in data and automation platforms.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex analytical content into concise, evidence-based narratives for senior stakeholders and rating committees.
Risk Management and Operating
- High standards for analytical quality, traceability, and governance, with sound judgment on the responsible use of AI tools in a controlled environment.

Additional Information
- An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in structured finance, credit analysis, or a related financial field.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.
- Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
