THE CHALLENGE

Onward Energy is building a new Sourcing Analytics function to provide the spend, supplier, inventory, and category intelligence that underpins enterprise-wide sourcing and procurement decisions. As a key early hire in this function, the Sourcing Analytics will establish the foundational data infrastructure - including the enterprise item master, spend cube, and category taxonomy - that will drive sourcing prioritization and operating model capabilities across all sites and business units.

In this role, you will partner closely with sourcing leads, procurement, finance, and operations to translate analytical insights into prioritized sourcing actions, measurable value capture, and sourcing pipeline prioritization. This position represents an initial entry into this capability and a natural pathway into Category Management as the organization matures. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building data structures from the ground up and engaging stakeholders at all levels to drive results under deadline.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Spend & Supplier Insights
  • Develop and maintain spend cube and category analytics.
  • Conduct supplier concentration and fragmentation analysis.
  • Analyze cross-fleet supplier overlap to identify consolidation opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing supplier performance analytics.

Item Master & Data Foundation
  • Design and build the enterprise item master, including standardized naming, category coding, SKU governance, and master data standards.
  • Lead data cleaning, normalization, and harmonization efforts required to establish enterprise-wide sourcing analytics and reporting.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop cross-site item master harmonization and taxonomy design.
  • Establish data governance standards and category hierarchy.
  • Hand off ongoing data quality maintenance to Vendor & Data Excellence once structures are in place.

Opportunity Identification
  • Identify sourcing opportunities through analysis of spend patterns, supplier behavior, inventory consumption patterns, and category dynamics.
  • Develop opportunity prioritization frameworks based on spend magnitude, fragmentation, and feasibility.
  • Track addressable spend baselines.

Sourcing Pipeline Analytics
  • Develop and maintain sourcing opportunity pipeline reporting across categories and business units
  • Quantify addressable spend, savings opportunities, supplier concentration, and sourcing prioritization metrics
  • Support sourcing wave planning and initiative sequencing
  • Track opportunity progression from identification through sourcing execution and savings realization

Reporting & Dashboards
  • Build and maintain dashboards providing real-time visibility into sourcing and procurement KPIs.
  • Develop self-service analytics capabilities for category managers.
  • Develop executive-level reporting supporting sourcing pipeline visibility, addressable spend, savings realization, and supplier concentration metrics.
  • Provide ad hoc analytical support for sourcing events, negotiations, and leadership requests.

THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. Three (3) - Six (6) years of relevant experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, data/spend/finance analytics, or related fields; prior experience in the energy or utility sector strongly preferred. Applicable years of experience may substitute for degree.

Technical
  • Advanced proficiency in BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).

  • High proficiency in Excel and / or SQL.

Analytical & Operational
  • Ability to translate large datasets into actionable insights.
  • Identify supplier concentration, price variance, fragmentation, inventory standardization, supplier consolidation, and savings opportunities.
  • Support business cases, savings baselines, and sourcing-wave prioritization.
  • Experience extracting, cleansing, reconciling, and analyzing data from ERP, procurement, inventory, and CMMS platforms (Workday, Maximo, SAP, Coupa, or similar) preferred.

Interpersonal & Communication
  • Communicate analytical findings clearly to sourcing, finance, operations, and leadership.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure data translates into executable sourcing actions.
