Full Job Description
Senior Analyst, Portfolio Implementation

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, Portfolio Implementation, the Senior Portfolio Implementation Analyst ("Senior Analyst") will work closely with all members of the Portfolio Implementation team to support department responsibilities, including internal analysis, trade list and portfolio review, reporting, portfolio construction, parameterization, and optimization across the model-to-trade lifecycle. The successful candidate will play an increasingly important role in streamlining foundational processes, workflows, systems, and applications that underpin functional implementation and data analysis.

This role offers exposure to most aspects of an institutional money management firm. In addition to Portfolio Implementation, the position will intersect with Research, Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Compliance, and Information Technology, contributing to both standard duties and ad hoc projects. The Senior Analyst will serve as a resource within the Portfolio Implementation team, providing day-to-day guidance and support to junior Analysts while contributing to organizational operational efficiency with the fundamental objective of improving alpha capture in client portfolios.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of the Portfolio Implementation function, with a thorough understanding of foundational portfolio activities, rebalance workflows, and the systems and applications that support them. Serve as a day-to-day resource for junior Analysts, helping orient, guide, and quality-check their work across routine and ad hoc tasks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on trade list optimization for regular program and objective-based rebalances, including preparation of relevant inputs for the optimization process. Evaluate and propose enhancements to implementation parameters and constraints to more effectively capture model signals in client portfolios, and help ensure Analysts are executing these steps consistently and accurately.
  • Oversee and assist in reviewing, maintaining, and monitoring client guidelines to ensure portfolios remain in compliance with account-specific objectives and restrictions, providing a secondary review layer for Analyst-prepared work product.
  • Lead and support ad hoc portfolio analysis to provide insights related to expected implementation objectives and outcomes, including assessments of signal exposure, transfer coefficients, and constraint impacts. Review and validate analytical work prepared by junior Analysts prior to broader distribution.
  • Drive the development and maintenance of internal reporting metrics and dashboards that enhance visibility into rebalancing activity, cash flow decision-making, and implementation outcomes across normal and varying market environments. Coordinate with Analysts to ensure timely and accurate input into these reporting processes.
  • Identify and champion opportunities to adapt workflows in an operationally efficient manner, contributing to the ongoing systematization of implementation decisions and the integration of implementation strategies across portfolios and products. Support Analysts in understanding and adopting improved workflows as they are introduced.
  • Evaluate and assist in automating decision criteria underlying recommended changes to portfolio parameters, both on an ad hoc basis and as part of regular rebalance activities. Help translate automation initiatives into actionable tasks for junior team members where appropriate.
  • Lead quality assurance efforts for new technology resources, systems, and tools used within the Portfolio Implementation group, including assessment of optimizer solutions, portfolio management systems, and data platforms. Help onboard and train Analysts on new tools and processes as they are adopted.
  • Oversee the integration of relevant data inputs, including corporate actions, liquidity considerations, and event risks, into daily and rebalance-related workflows, ensuring Analysts understand and consistently apply these inputs.
  • Contribute to and help coordinate cross-functional projects with Research, Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Compliance, and Information Technology. Serve as a point of continuity and context for junior team members participating in these initiatives.
  • The nature of portfolio implementation in global financial markets requires availability beyond standard office hours. The Senior Analyst is expected to exercise sound judgment in monitoring key communications to contribute outside of normal business hours on a regular basis or as needed in response to events that may require prompt action or coordination.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3-6 years' experience in investment management or a related field; an advanced degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Strong familiarity with investment strategies, portfolio analytics and optimization systems, portfolio construction concepts, and data analysis.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with an ability to interpret and communicate data-driven insights.
  • Technical proficiency preferred: Python, R, VBA, Bloomberg, or CIQ.
  • Expert Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Demonstrated aptitude for adopting new applications and platforms, including data and visualization tools (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Tableau) and AI-based tools that drive process efficiency (e.g., Claude, Copilot).
  • Creative and curious mindset with an eagerness to think beyond the normal course of operations.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possessing a strong work ethic.
  • Proven ability to provide informal guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues while maintaining a collaborative, non-hierarchical team dynamic.
  • Excellent team player who anticipates needs and works collaboratively across functions.
  • Crisp and clear written and verbal communication skills.
