This individual contributor role offers a unique opportunity for direct exposure to Capital Market trading and a comprehensive overview of hedging risk strategies within the bank. You will be involved in hedging interest rate and foreign exchange risks, gaining in-depth knowledge of these strategies. The work requires a keen eye for detail. As part of the Accounting Policy team within the Enterprise Controllership group of BMO, our hedge accounting team is seeking a Senior Analyst. This role focuses on supporting hedging operations, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and maintaining the accuracy of financial statements.
Prepare, review and maintain hedge accounting template and documentation, ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards
Collaborate with Corporate Treasury and Capital Market trading desks to validate and align hedging strategies.
Complete and monitor hedge accounting checklists, ensuring timely approval of hedges, validation of terms, and appropriate accounting classification.
Conduct monthly hedge effectiveness testingto ensure hedge accounting qualification.
Reconcile hedging transactions for accuracy and completeness.
Support quarterly and year end financial disclosure processes, including preparation of hedge reporting packages.
Participate in transformation and automation projects, identify areas for process improvements, streamline hedge documentation workflows
Integrate information from multiple sources to support reporting, analysis, and process efficiencies.
Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders, including auditors, risk management, and finance teams
Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.

Qualifications:
Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Good knowledge of hedging strategies and financial instruments.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group27s expected target for the first year in this position.
