Role Overview:

RTX BBN Technologies is committed to maintaining compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and corporate policies while continuously improving our performance. We are seeking an EHS Generalist to support our EHS function. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to delivering excellent service, building strong working relationships, managing a diverse workload with attention to detail and deadlines, and pursuing ongoing professional development. This position reports directly to the EHS Manager and is based in Cambridge, MA. Occasional support may be required at other BBN locations, including Middletown, RI, which will involve a limited amount of travel.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the program manager for designated EHS programs, including electrical safety, lockout/tagout, PPE, sustainability, and other programs as assigned.
  • Provide technical EHS support to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and RTX EHS policies and standard work/guidance.
  • Assist in the recognition, evaluation and control of hazards and risks.
  • Manage the self-inspection program, including software implementation, monitoring completions, addressing findings, tracking closures, analyzing trends, and recommending improvements.
  • Manage the new hire orientation process, including tracking completion of the New/Transfer Employee EHS Orientation Checklist and scheduling and delivering EHS orientation training via webbased platforms (such as Zoom or Teams) and/or inperson sessions.
  • Manage the EHS communications program by developing the annual communication plan and creating sitespecific messages and EHS tips for leadership and employee distribution, as well as for display on plasma screens and poster boards.
  • Complete, update, and maintain EHS risk assessments related to the control of hazardous energy for research- and businessrelated machines and equipment (excluding building and infrastructure equipment).
  • Develop and revise job hazard analyses utilizing the EHS software platform.
  • Complete periodic certified PPE hazard assessments.
  • Manage compliance with the EPA27s updated refrigerant management regulations for highGlobal Warming Potential hydrofluorocarbons used in HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Support closure of routine EHS compliance tasks utilizing the EHS software platform.
  • Support sustainability activities such as Green Gemba walks and water leak inspections.
  • Assist with conducting equipment inspections and maintaining inventories, including aboveground storage tanks, transformers, oil/water separators and related pump chambers and area drains, oxygen sensors, fixed and portable ladders, soldering workstations, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Perform additional duties and provide program support as needed or assigned, such as ergonomics assessments and industrial hygiene monitoring.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelors or Master of Science in EHS-related area of study (e.g., environmental and occupational health sciences, industrial hygiene, safety, public health, biology, chemistry, or engineering) from an accredited college or university including ABET-accredited programs.
  • 2+ years relevant EHS experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Knowledgeable about environment, health, and safety regulations, including the use of OSHA, NIOSH, and EPA resources.
  • Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills (a writing example may be requested).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Professional certification (such as CIH, CSP, or CHMM) or a strong interest in pursuing professional certification is highly desirable.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate27s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company27s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
