Full Job Description

As a senior advisor for non-financial risk monitoring (data), you provide strategic leadership in integrated risk monitoring with a particular focus on data-related risks across Desjardins Group. You contribute to the development of strategic directions, positions and frameworks related to data governance, quality and risk management. You serve as a recognized expert for senior management, business sectors and decision-making bodies. In this role, you anticipate emerging data-related risks, influence organizational directions and support the evolution of risk management practices through an integrated and sustainable approach aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities. The nature of the files handled involves a high degree of complexity, ambiguity and organizational impact. Your expertise directly contributes to protecting Desjardins Group’s reputation, regulatory compliance and performance. Specifically, you will work closely with a team of approximately ten professionals with complementary expertise to develop comprehensive and integrated oversight of the non-financial risks facing Desjardins Group. As part of the second line of defence, this team helps ensure effective risk management and contributes to the improvement of operational practices in collaboration with teams across Desjardins Group. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Advise senior management and decision-making bodies on strategic issues related to data quality, integrity and governance
  • Represent the risk monitoring function in internal and external strategic forums
  • Ensure integrated and cross-functional risk monitoring across Desjardins Group
  • Assess the overall effectiveness of management and control mechanisms related to data governance, quality and protection
  • Produce strategic analyses to support decision-making by governance bodies
  • Make high-value-added recommendations to support the continuous improvement of the organization’s risk profile
  • Provide expert, cross-functional advisory services to officers, business sectors and risk management functions
  • Influence the direction, priorities and action plans of the relevant sectors to promote proactive risk management
  • Support teams responsible for implementing governance programs and help ensure consistency of practices across the organization

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience in non-financial risk management
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Experience preparing and presenting documents for executive-level audiences
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, SQL)
  • Knowledge of internal control frameworks such as COSO
  • Knowledge of ISOstandards related to risk management and data governance (ISO31000 and ISO27001)
  • Knowledge of the three lines of defence (3LOD) model and risk governance principles
