Job Description

As a Sr. Advanced Systems Engineer - Process & Certification at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in defining, implementing, and sustaining engineering development processes and certification activities for advanced aerospace systems. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, program leaders, customers, and regulatory authorities to ensure products are developed and certified in accordance with applicable regulatory, customer, and industry requirements.

This role requires a strong understanding of aerospace development lifecycles, certification standards, and process compliance. You will contribute to the successful execution of certification programs by developing compliant processes, authoring certification artifacts, supporting audits and reviews, and providing technical guidance throughout the product development lifecycle.

You will report directly to the Senior Systems Engineering Manager and work from our Phoenix, Arizona location on a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve engineering development processes, plans, procedures, and certification documentation in accordance with applicable aerospace regulations and industry standards.
  • Author, review, and approve certification, planning, compliance, and lifecycle data required to support product certification and regulatory approval.
  • Serve as the primary process and certification focal point for assigned programs, coordinating with customers, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the development and execution of certification strategies and compliance plans throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Software, Hardware, Safety, Quality, and Program teams to ensure process and certification requirements are effectively implemented.
  • Provide guidance on compliance with aerospace development standards, including DO-178C, ARP4754A, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure engineering artifacts, certification evidence, and compliance records are complete, accurate, and auditable.
  • Support AS9100 compliance activities, customer audits, regulatory reviews, and internal process assessments.
  • Perform and support compliance audits, gap assessments, and reviews to verify adherence to regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve process-related issues while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across engineering programs.
  • Assist with regulatory and customer interactions related to certification planning, compliance demonstrations, and audit activities.
  • Support export classification and control requirements for engineering documentation and deliverables.


Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
  • 8+ years of aerospace systems engineering, certification, process assurance, or product development experience.
  • Knowledge of aerospace development and certification standards, including DO-178B/C, ARP4754A, and related industry guidance.
  • Experience developing, documenting, and implementing engineering processes within a regulated environment.
  • Understanding of systems and software development lifecycles for aerospace applications.

WE VALUE
  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting FAA, EASA or other aerospace certification programs.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems and audit processes.
  • Familiarity with safety-critical systems development and compliance verification activities.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality and compliance.
  • Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and process excellence.
