Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial, Process, or Manufacturing Engineering, related discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in process or product development for electro-mechanical assemblies for electronic systems.
  • 5 years of experience in process, design, or product development for mechanical assemblies.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience with machining, stamping, assembly, die casting, injection molding, extrusion, machining, quality control, tolerance loop analysis.
  • Experience with operations and supply chain management.
  • Experience with process and production line development for high volume manufacturing across worldwide manufacturing geographies.
  • Expert knowledge in mechanical part qualification, and precision measurement techniques/equipment.
  • Knowledge of tool and die design, fabrication, qualification and equipment/fixture design.

The Product Infrastructure Advanced Operations Engineering Mechanical Team delivers mechanical solutions for Google Cloud, responsible for serving all of Google's functions and customers. Be part of a team that pushes boundaries, developing custom electro-mechanical solutions for the future of Google's Cloud computing and Machine Learning.

In this role, you will be a technical process and product development lead for all of Google's compute hardware, including our industry leading AI solutions, serving all of Google's internal and external Cloud customers. Using a deep understanding of manufacturing processes such as stamping, molding, casting, extrusion, machining, assembly, you will enable product design and development for next generation E/M solutions at scale. You will not only help guide qualification of new processes and suppliers but you will also guide teams to optimize designs, production processes, manufacturing lines, and vendors to help build better supply chains. With an understanding of design methods, tools, and requirements, you will advocate team efforts to provide design for excellence (DFx) feedback, tolerance stack analysis, and mechanical design considerations to enable manufacturing, automation, and scalability.

  • Serve as a go-to technical expert within a significant area of manufacturing engineering (e.g., tooling, automation, test, process development, DFX).
  • Help define the medium and long-term technical strategy and manufacturing architecture for scalability and robustness and influence the supply chain selection for next generation hardware to support Google Cloud and Machine Learning.
  • Drive initiatives that result in step-change improvements in cost, quality, efficiency, or capabilities.
  • Use advanced statistical tools to guide teams to make data driven decisions to improve product manufacturing and design.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers within the team and cross-functionally.
