The Additive Manufacturing Process and Capability Center (AMPCC) encompasses a critical mass of Additive Manufacturing (AM) process and industrialization experts, the necessary equipment, and develops the strategic collaborations needed to rapidly mature the technology and manufacturing readiness of AM. The AMPCC is focused on the research, development, and deployment of additive manufacturing tools and processes for our business units.
What You Will DoThe Senior Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer will be challenged with solving unique and interesting problems to enable new commercial aerospace and defense products. They will be responsible for one or more of the following activities as they relate to the AMPCC, including:
- Develop advanced process parameters to enable complex geometries with enhanced material properties
- Investigate sources of machine variability and develop methods to eliminate observed variability
- Execute and oversee development builds on various Additive Manufacturing machines
- Collaborate with internal and external groups to develop whitepapers, project concepts, and responsive proposals
- Explore the capabilities of advanced tools and equipment to characterize machines and process space
- Develop machine installation, machine operation, and part qualification processes and standards
- Work with RTX Business Units to understand and address their needs
- Lead projects to advance the industrialization of AM at RTX
Qualifications You Must HaveThe preferred candidate should have a strong understanding of engineering principles and hands on experience working with laboratory equipment. Candidate must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation and have demonstrated both verbal and written communication skills including:
- Typically requires a University Engineering Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
- Experience with Additive Manufacturing tools and processes
- Scripting experience with Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript or similar
- Hands on experience with metal laser powder-bed-fusion AM equipment
- Basic understanding of low voltage sensors and control systems
Qualifications We PreferPreferred candidates for this position will have a PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical field. A minimum 3.5 GPA is desirable.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
