Job Purpose- The Active Safety Parking Systems Test Engineer (for ADAS Systems) will coordinate / perform a full range of test/development activities relevant to departmental and organizational needs while correlating with our Japan-based counterparts, international engineering teams as well as external vendors and customers.
- The associate will assume PIC (Person-in-Charge) responsibility for specific ADAS technologies and corollary testing within a development project(s); as well as lead/mentor junior engineers within the group.
Key Accountabilities- Responsible for the development of the Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) - Parking Systems and Camera functions, as well as tuning vehicle control systems.
- Develop the functional requirements related to CAN interface, Self-Diagnostic, Failsafe Detection for each vehicle development, working with the system supplier to lead the integration of these functions into the vehicle, as well as verification of the functions.
- Roles include project management activities, overseeing the testing of the related vehicle systems, negotiating the hardware and software interfaces to integrate the system into the vehicle, instrumenting and troubleshooting vehicles for testing, analyzing test data, recommending solutions for test failures, determining root cause(s) and leading/coaching/mentoring junior engineers within the group as a Lead PIC (person in charge) for development projects.
- Manage development projects/schedules, coordinate with corollary departments/suppliers and research new technologies and market trends
- Creating and presenting technical documents/reports, including comprehensive root cause analysis when required.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills- Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering and/or Controls Engineering
- Minimum Experience:
- 5 or more years of relevant indsutrial experience
- Other Job-Specific Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of vehicle integrated controls, vehicle dynamics, steering control functions and experience for tuning vehicle control systems:
- Comprehensive understanding of requirements management, function validation, diagnostics, and CAN structures.
- Hands on mechanical ability / Understanding of vehicle systems.
- Analytical skills to prepare prototype vehicles for testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot system issues and propose solutions to those issues.
- Some travel domestic and internationally should be expected to visit various proving grounds, visit suppliers engineering offices and production locations and support Honda factories during pre-production launch timings.
- Valid driver s license required to operate vehicles on proving grounds.
- PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CANalyzer, CANape and other technical software)
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the willingness to pro-actively seek out information from others and convert concepts into specific requirements.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and Vector CAN tools will be a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of electrical hardware fundamentals and software development process
- Strong presentation skills
WorkstyleThis is position will require the employee to work onsite at our plant location in Raymond, OH. One remote workday a week may be possible, with prior departmental approval.
